Transfer rules

I believe the legislature was attempting to pass a change to the rules for preventing let's say Oak Grove or Lamar County School Board from preventing by a no vote not to accept a student from transferring from Oak Grove to Petal as an example. Then Petal School board will have a meeting to accept. They are trying to take the right of Lamar County having to accept the transfer and not accept the transfer. However MHSAA by laws allows principal and AD from Oak Grove to file a complaint against Petal for recruiting violations as currently  written.

Right now for a student to go from the district they live in to another district they have to be released by the school board of the current school and accepted by the new one. The law they are attempting to pass removes the ability of the current school to hold them and limits the reasons the new one can use to not accept.

Again the transfer rules are already selectively enforced. We see it on the coast all the time.

How many schools are willing to lose money on a student transferring?  Has anyone ever complained of having vote on students leaving? It's just a formality unless he's an all state athlete.

I haven't heard of anyone complaining about the vote/release. Most the time it doesn't even make it to the school board, the release/paperwork is handled lower, or if it does it's lumped in to a mass vote.

You're right, we all agree that Joe, Bo, and Moe have left for Hattiesburg.
