If the fear of COVID-19 is so great that a school/district feels it is not safe enough for in-person learning, how can one justify playing sports? GoodOnPaper
South Panola’s jamboree versus Lafayette and first two games, Neshoba Central and Oxford are cancelled because the school switched to virtual learning for 14 days. Tigers are 0-2, I guess. Again, the MHSAA supports homeschooled student participating in MHSAA-sanctioned events. Why would this be any different—other than appeasing our oatmeal-brained state leadership?

Because if its just 14 calendar days they could come back the week of Aug 30th and play on Sept

Initially, that first game at Neshoba Central was canceled (late Friday night, go figure), and the Oxford game was canceled today. Not sure how they're counting it. Hernando just went virtual and their jamboree and first game vs Rosa Fort has been forfeited. Nothing about their 9/3 game vs Cleveland Central has been announced yet. Arashatora
Neshoba Central had 32 faculty out. They are absolutely over run
ogwarriorbandman
MHSAA just released that schools can practice in season sports if 100% virtual with school district approval. However, they can’t play games if 100% virtual.

Arashatora
It will remove the need to reaclimate to the heat, thereby reducing the number of games lost substantially. Not ideal but way better than before

Look at the New Zealand it had its first positive case in 170 days and went on full lock down. Talk about the definition of an island.
