The final week of football is here. I know players and fans are wishing there could be 1 or a few more weeks of football after this but unfortunately this is it minus the All-Star games at the later dates.

The defending 1A State Champs and current 1A South State champs Bay Springs (13-1) are making a strong case to repeat as champions. Many believe it will be in a dominant performance against the 1A North Champs McEvans Warriors. Bay Spring has been very stingy on defense outside of playing the current 3A South State Champs Raleigh and the defending 2A state champs and current 2A South State champs Scott Central. They have only allowed 6 points throughout the entire playoffs and coming in only allowing 8 points per game for the season while averaging scoring 45.9 points a game. The Bulldogs are coming off a 52-6 slaughter-house win against Taylorsville. They are led offensively with a 3 headed backfield rushing attack raking up huge yardages.

The 1A North Champs McEvans Warriors (13-1) are making its first appearance since being known as Shaw in 2011 and 2nd overall appearance after having a couple of years of knocking on the door in between time. McEvans are coming in as huge underdogs and a team of unknown players and capabilities to most. The Warriors also have been very stingy on defense only allowing 16 points throughout the playoffs and allowing 8.2 points a game and scoring an average of 37.9 points a game. the Warriors are coming off a 24-8 defensive win against a high scoring underfeated Biggersville team. The Warriors are led with a balance rushing/passing attack.

Kickoff Friday from THE ROCK in Hattiesburg.
