Guntriple
What’s the deal here, can’t seem to win or keep a coach? Russell is a good coach and couldn’t make it work. Seems like a lack of talent and high expectations.
Unionman76
They played a freshman qb this year numbers down from winning years county will not move the lines to balance the school sizes so there is over crowding at nearby schools
MSSportsGuy
At the risk of being too negative, Desoto County in general isn't what it was even ten years ago. The student body tends to be very transient and the OB zone is one of the smaller ones in terms of geography and population. That being said Desoto County schools just don't have good football cultures and isn't a priory for the communities in general. The Memphis influence keeps increasing there and they are dealing with more challenging behaviors from students and families as well. A good friend of mine teaches at one of the better schools in the county and due to his wife being in a more lucrative career, his kids attend Briarcrest in Collierville rather than the public school near their house and it's considered one of the "better" ones. Saints24
Heard they are interviewing this week. Any prospects?
Guntriple
Heard they had a ton of interest. One of the issues in Desoto County is the Memphis area schools recruit DC pretty hard. MASE won a state championship with a Lewisburg QB. Collierville had a kid from Lewisburg as a QB a few years back and his brother went to Lewisburg. Both lived in MS. GTownDanger06
Collierville had 6-8 starters 3 years ago from Center Hill. They played for Center Hill as Juniors and then attended Colierville for their Senior season. The year they built the new school.
Guntriple
Didn't realize that. That's crazy, TSSAA does nothing to Memphis area schools public or private. Also would help if the county would bite the bullet and redraw the lines but that's not gonna happen. DC has over 2K kids and OB barely has 1K. Will be interesting to see how the opening of the new Hernando HS affect this also, alot of folks that can will move to the nice new shiny thing. Heard they were gonna have a jumbotron out there. coachfball87
Believe this one was filled by an in-county coordinator.
