Not that I’m aware of. They need to change staff though. 5-7 with the Beamon kid and the WRs they had? No excuse.

Ah... you're stirring the pot.

Not nice.

CC has had one good season (the first) since the two schools came together. Nothing new to see. Same ole same ole.

I mean I’m not trying to. Atleast get a better offensive and defensive coordinator in there. Again with all that talent they have running around they should atleast be over .500. Kinda curious to see how it’ll play out though since the school district did get a new superintendent

Who are the coordinators there now? I haven’t kept as close a watch on them as normal this year, but it looks like they are a few plays away from being 7-5 as opposed to 5-7. Looking through the roster I see a lot of youth. You reference Beamon, and he may be great, but he is a sophomore. 15, maybe 16 years old and getting his first taste of big time ball this year, I’m sure there were some growing pains.

Maybe give Kendrick a chance to keep building this young team up. This same thought process you’re having just happened couple years ago when they fired Kendrick after one season and hired Jay Jones who had zero success either. Gonna keep being mediocre if continue playing coaching carousel.

I agree. It's not like he suddenly forgot how to coach football

He even told me before the season started that it was going to be a season of growing pains because of youth but he loved what the future looked like with some athletic underclassmen. Cleveland folks expect every year to be like the first year which was a loaded team of an East Side squad(coached by Kendrick Woodard) that would’ve been serious 3A state champ contenders and a Cleveland High squad that would’ve made a deep run in 4A playoffs. Anyone could’ve coached that team that year and had success. The talent since then hasn’t been anywhere near the same but this underclassmen group could get them back there.

My guess is he started this topic hoping Smithers will take over again based off his comments from the coaching post. Especially since there’s been absolutely no mention of letting Kendrick go. If that happens I’d be more than willing to bet a lot that you’d eventually see Javaris as the McEvans QB and no longer the CC QB.

And why is that? Beamon would thrive under Smither more than he is now. Plus in my opinion the job was wrongly taken from Smither. Would have loved to see where the program would be at now if he didn’t get let go for a bogus accusation.

He did go 3-9, with one of those three being a forfeit from Rosa Fort.

Let’s not forget inherited a athletic squad full of mostly seniors in his first year. Then decided not to play KJ in 1st round of playoffs, got out coached and upset by a 6-7 Lake Cormorant team. Proceeded that with a 3-9 record the following year missing the playoffs. And to top it off got arrested. So by my understanding he thinks that’s acceptable to see what he could’ve done with more years but Kendrick making the playoffs with a young team in year two and competing for most of the game against a top ten Vicksburg team deserves to be fired. Full blown craziness.

ETA: I wasn’t even going to bring up the accusation because no reason to put someone’s personal business out on here but to call it a bogus accusation is beyond laughable. I lived there during the time and like lumberlayer I too know all the details as does pretty much all of Cleveland.

KJ wanted to play, was ready to play and was upset that he didn’t. Trust me I know a lot more than you think.

Kid was not ready to play. Yea sure he was upset and wanted to play but why would you risk hurting the kids future in basketball. You don’t know as much as you think either.

New DC. New scheme. Bunch of new guys on defense. Not pinning all the blame on the DC but there were growing pains. I mean they lost a ton of seniors they had to replace.

Yet you blamed Kendrick the OC when the offense practically lost over 90% of its production due to graduation.

I get it you wanna give Smither a pass for having a young team. Unacceptable though for Kendrick who had a team of mostly sophomores and juniors with most seeing their first taste of starting action. I’m out cuz no need in continuing to beat a dead horse.

Campaigning on a message board for someone to get fired and another hired in their place is rather immature and certainly an underhanded thing to do, not to mention how easy it is to read between the lines and make accurate assumptions on who is likely doing the posting. There are only a handful of folks so close to the program that they knew, in 2018, the status of a particular injured player down to specifying the exact nature of the injury, and the reason he was not played in a particular game... that kinda narrows it down, doesn't it?

Might want to back it up and reconsider whether airing this stuff out on MST is in anyone's best interest.
