Their Middle School team won their division championship this year so some talent appears to be on the way. However, they have been losing kids to transfer the last 2-3 years. So it would not surprise for some of those kids to be wearing different uniforms in the next few years. It is a tough, tough job.

I would be shocked. Moss Point essentially ran him off. They were over him. I remember when they won region and got put out in the 1st round. They were in an uproar over it. That was a big reason he left in the first place. Community pressure. A lot of the residents there believe they should be competing for state titles and they cannot wrap their heads around the fact that those days are largely over.

You keep swimming in circles, buddy. My former job and what Athletic Directors at the high school level are pretty much the same thing. My brother has been a coach at the collegiate level (D2 and FCS) along with 20+ years of high school experience as an AD/HFC. It is not rocket science. You vet the candidate, you check references among other contacts in regards to them. You evaluate their experience and what they have done. If they meet the criteria for what that school is looking for, typically you bring them in for formal interview. THAT is where you dig in and really find out how they fit and who they are. If you think a college coach is hired for one specific job, you are clueless and I will leave it at that. Not to take anything away from high school coaches because they put in work, but the stress, strain and workload they experience to a college coach is not even comparable. Again, you believe Lane Brady is a great coach and HFC material. I do not. Neither of us is right nor wrong. That is why it is an opinion.

My 8 years of employment with Parker Executive Search where my job was to literally evaluate resumés of candidates for a wide array of positions, including athletics. I get it. You are a big fan of Lane Brady. That is awesome. I just personally do not see what you do and that is okay. If he gets the Moss Point job. Best of luck. He will absolutely need it.

The total destruction of class 5A by MHSAA
coastfootballfanman replied to slicklizard's topic in Football
Adding an extra class created an additional 15 playoff games for the state to make money. Just in football. More playoff games = more money. It was done to serve 2 purposes. 1. Bring in more money. 2. Appease the old 6A teams who were crying about the enrollment disparity between the top and bottom of 6A. Slick, it seems times are very changing and society is gearing toward making everyone feel all warm and fuzzy inside. LOL -
It is a joke in my eyes. His only coastal ties are to Long Beach where they were awful. I am sure he is a great man and does a good job as a coach. However, nothing on his resume says he is HFC material.

Yes from what I was told they are both expected to be out.

Gautier is very fast and extremely athletic. They have a great athlete at quarterback who can take a game over. They have 2 really fast running backs. Athletes on perimeter. They are tough to defend. Defensively, they have a great linebacker and some speed but they are not physical. They are a good football team but probably would have been sent home in the 1st or 2nd round in 4A or 6A. Them earning their first trip to state in school history is a great story but I expect West Point to wear them down and pull away in second half

Hattiesburg at Picayune 6A South State Championship
coastfootballfanman replied to maroontide06's topic in Football
It is going to be interesting for sure. I know Picayune “reloads” but they do lose some really great players. Pascagoula returns a lot from what I was told. Something like 15-16 starters back. West Jones will be more experienced. While Gautier is losing some great players, they are going to be super athletic. George County will be a wild card. They lost their best weapons on offense but do have some nice pieces coming back. 6A south is going to be a gauntlet once again. -

The sun rose this morning. You had air in your lungs. Instead of whining, make the most of the day the lord has made. Sometimes in life, we get the short end of the stick. Pick yourself up and get going forward. We can blame bad calls by a ref but hell if Picayune could defend a go ball, they probably would be getting ready to practice next week. You guys had a great season. You will be in the hunt to be in this position next year as well. You guys have a great program. -
Moss Point needs anyone who wants to be there. Talent pool is dry. Best players from this team were seniors and now gone. School population is dropping. Bad part is dropping to 3A on next count doesn’t help them a ton either. Will still be tough to make playoffs and if they do, have some really great teams waiting for them. Moss Point has fallen off a cliff and I do not know if they can recover.

Great game. Brookhaven missed a short kick in the final seconds for the win.

They probably wish both teams could lose! LOL -
Gautier up 17-14
-
Gautier is up 17-7.
-
Hattiesburg has had minimal answers for Picayune’s power run.
-
Picayune up 7-0. It is pretty clear Hattiesburg is down two really good defensive lineman.

Otis’ replacement?? Was he the defensive linemen that went out last week vs. Pascagoula and did not return? -
Hattiesburg at Picayune 6A South State Championship

I said before the season, if Vance and Hattiesburg were going to hoist a gold ball, it was this year. I still stand by that. They are really good. Defensively, they are big and fast. Offensively they have playmakers all over and they are well coached. Hattiesburg has the defense I believe can slow down Darrell Smith and the Picayune offense. After watching the Tigers grind out a great win over a good Pascagoula team last night, I am real excited for this game and might just make the trip up. Right now, I think Hattiesburg wins by 7-10 range. -
It is definitely possible. But knowing what I do about that district. I would surprised if they did it.
-
What is the deal with his name coming up for every job on the coast?
-
To my knowledge in most districts now a days, they are not allowed to do both. I am sure there some smaller districts where they allow it. However, most on the coast do not allow coaches to be admin and still coach.

Have heard Sims is possibly retiring. I can see High retiring but have been told he has a son in college that he is waiting on to graduate before doing so. Heard rumblings off Hancock giving Lollar the ultimatum of resigning or being fired. Makes zero sense to me. Kind of like the Biloxi situation last year. What do you think you will get? Hancock has like 10 playoffs appearances all time and Lollar was HFC for 5 of them. With the type of players Hancock has, Lollar has done about as good as you can with them. Have heard similar things at George but nothing 100% but it would not surprise me if Ray decided to move into a different role.

It is hard to imagine them turning it over to him full time after an 0-9 season. He is also the head baseball coach for Moss Point as well. I imagine they will open it up. The problem will be finding someone to really want the job. They are losing a good bit off this team I believe so talent pool will probably be way down.
-
In all honesty, it may be a blessing in disguise for George. Losing Deuce and the playmakers they are on both offense and defense they were looking at a rebuild type year next year. Playing in that region, they should almost be a lock to be the 3 seed most years.
