  1. I would say in this case, it is a little more warranted based on who they did end up hiring. Vance was coming off back to back state title appearances and was literally 2 points away from back to back state wins. Vance was a much more seasoned and successful hire than Lacy. Not saying he cannot come in and do a good job, it just on paper does not move the needle right now in my opinion.
  2. LOL well I will admit for all the flare that went around this hire, this is lackluster. However, he has coached at some great programs and has done well at Valdosta as a Co-DC. I just feel if you are going to hire a guy with no HFC experience, why not promote your OC who has been there a while and knows the kids and community or your DC who has HFC experience?
  3. We obviously will not know how good of a hire this will be around November next year so I will hold back on overall judgement. I would feel slighted if I was one of the coordinators given who they did end up hiring.
  4. Blake Pennock a name to watch in this?? Word on the coast is he has been looking for a chance to get back to Jackson area. Former OC there. Loves to recruit. Would fit in well up there. LOL
  5. He very well could be super successful. He is apparently young. Been at a great Valdosta program for a good amount of time. It is just surprising to bring in this over one of your coordinators who has been there (one of them has HFC experience).
  6. Does he have Mississippi ties? Everything I have read has him being in Alabama and Georgia. He has been at Valdosta the last several years so he has worked at a great program. Just seems odd to bring in a guy that has never been in our state. Never been a HFC either.
  7. He left a pretty good gig at Pass to be DC at Ocean Springs. Hard to imagine he would be interested in Long Beach.
  8. Can we get a Mod to block this guy? LOL
  9. At this point I am going to do what Vott said and just wait. LOL
  10. Does not appear that way. Myself included. LOL
  11. Was not from me.. It was BigFan100. He said: "This hire hopefully will be the BIGGEST hire for HHS ever" I did replay to that statement and said the only 2 names that would bring up that sort of hype/talk would be Tyrone Shorter or Teddy Young.
  12. Vott, I am a man of my word and I would not have said a word if you would have told me. I understand why you did not, but I would have kept it off this site and not out in public.
  13. Bray Hubbard Kaden Irving Myles Brennan Snoop Conner Deuce Knight Anthony Alford
  14. I agree. French was doing about as good of a job as you could there. I could absolutely end up being wrong about DuBose getting Hattiesburg, but my friend seemed pretty positive on it and he usually gets it right.
  15. Jamey DuBose from Biloxi is the next head coach for Hattiesburg.
  16. I am referring specifically to retirees from another state. Probably should have mentioned that. The jury is out on Collier in my opinion. His last 2-3 years at Theodore inflated his record a lot. George County lost a good bit from this season as well. I think Mobile County buddy politics played a bigger role in this hire than anything else.
  17. I have never been a big fan of these type of hires. By the time these guys come here, the fire is either gone or on the verge. Very rarely do you see them translate that into the type of success they came from.
  18. He will not have anything near what he had this year at Greene County. His QB at Hancock probably is better, but I do not see them having the personnel to sling it around the field like he did at Greene. I think if he adjusts his scheme to fit those kids, he could do great
  19. I think you really do not know who it is at this point. LOL
  20. If it is the name I have been told by a few different people today and last night, would be shocking
  21. In my opinion this is going to be used as a means to force certain school consolidations state wide.
  22. He was still residing over in east Jackson County and commuting to Bay St. Louis every day. He has a young son and just had a newborn at the end of the 2023 season and said the commute and time was taking a toll on family so he wanted to get back closer to home.
  23. I have seen conflicting reports on it. One article said it was for students from a D or F district. The others I saw made it appear that you could come and go as long as the district you are going to will accept you. This was what I got from a site. SECTION 1. Section 37-15-31, Mississippi Code of 1972, is amended as follows: 37-15-31. (1) (a) Except as provided in subsections (2) through * * * (7) of this section, upon the petition in writing of a parent or guardian resident of the school district of an individual student filed or lodged with the president or secretary of the school board of a school district * * * to which the pupil * * * is seeking transfer, individual students living in one school district * * * may be legally transferred to another school district, * * * provided that the school board of the school district to which the transfer is sought consents * * * to receive the students seeking transfer, which such consent must be given in writing and spread upon the minutes of * * * the school board of the transferee school district. (b) Upon receipt of such notice of petition for transfer, the school board of the transferee school district shall act on such request for transfer as soon as possible, and no later than the next regular meeting of the transferee board, and a failure of such transferee board to act within such time shall constitute an approval of such request and approved enrollment by the school board of the transferee school district. If such a transfer is approved by the school board of the transferee school district, then such decision shall be final. ( * * *c) * * * The transferee school district shall notify, in writing, the school district from which the pupil or pupils are transferring of the receipt of such transfer request within a reasonable period of time, and the school board of the transferor school district shall spread the same upon its minutes. * * * ( * * *d) Any legal guardianship formed for the purpose of establishing residency for school district attendance purposes shall not be recognized by the affected school board. (e) The legal transfer of a student under this subsection shall include a provision for the transportation of the student by either the parent or legal guardian of the student or the transferee school district, provided that the transferee school district does not violate the provision of Section 37-15-29(3), prohibiting the transportation of students in excess of thirty (30) miles from his or her home. (g) Athletic eligibility for a school-age child who transfers to another school or school district pursuant to this subsection shall be determined based on the child's fall semester enrollment. A child shall be athletically eligible for one (1) school per school year. A child may transfer to another school mid-year, however, that child shall not be athletically eligible until the following fall school year. A child shall not be deemed athletically ineligible, thus ruled ineligible for any length of time, based upon a transfer of schools, so long as the provisions in this section are followed.
  24. Word I received last night was that if the AD and Principal get what they want, it will be Cagnolatti or Lala.
