Absolutely legit question nobody has ever answered for me. What is a tar-tar?
-
Yeah. Based on the enrollment of the last school to make it into 7A, OG’s current student population would have to be nearly cut in half for OG to drop into 6A. They’re currently averaging mid-400s per class. Ain’t no way they’ll lose overall when they actually grew over the last 2 years and went from like #10 to #6 in size during that time. The closest schools to them are: Sumrall, Purvis, Columbia, Petal, and Hattiesburg HS on the public side and Columbia Academy, PCS, Lamar Christian and Sacred Heart on the private school side. Any football athletes looking at that list are gonna be hard pressed to come up with a legit reason that OG isn’t the best opportunity available right now with regard to coaching and being seen for recruitment at the next level. Columbia would be the next best major competitor there - but one of the best defensive guys Columbia had in the class of 2026 (McDaniel) transferred to OG for his junior and senior years and started for OG. So it doesn’t look like the strongest athletes are leaving OG. Looks like they’re coming in. And academically speaking, OG is pretty solid.

You got jokes OG is the 6th largest school in the state according to current 2025-27 MHSAA reclassification numbers

Good info! Thx for clearing that up. There’s a “MS football history” type website that I use for lots of data. And it obvs has the score flipped for that championship game. Appreciate the info! And it explains why the announcers kept saying it was Gpt’s 1st state title
-
Yes. 1999 Prior to that, gotta back to 1982 to find Gulfport in the title game. It is their only football title to date.

1st half was free. I watched it on Facebook if he’s charging for 2nd half, he hasn’t said it. The reason he’s doing it is not to make money. It’s to let ppl watch their teams. Just like Akeem did last night for HHS fans. No charge.

Livestream being shown on FB - search Marquez Jackson

7A already has 25 teams. I expect someone to drop into 6A, but I’d be surprised to see anyone new move up into 7A

56-34 FINAL - Warren Central is your 6A Champ WC QB Nash Morgan had himself a night! What an athlete! Complete with multiple TDs and an int while playing the other way. Kid is a junior - will definitely be back in the ship next year. Fun to watch.

35 - 28, WC end of 3rd

HALFTIME 6A tied at 21 WC won the toss to start the game & deferred, so they’ll get the ball first to start the 2nd half Akeem Harrison streaming the game live on Facebook

Idk. Bilderback did an exceptional job taking Columbia to a championship & undefeated season in his 1st year back. He’d be a fav too
-
HHS vs Warren Central tied at 14 with 8 mins left in the half

Hearing that he’s good

Will be curious to see the crowd support in this one. WC and HHS are equidistant from Davis Wade. Hattiesburg had an enormous home crowd advantage last year at USM but when it was clear HHS was not performing well in that game, they were almost all gone by halftime. It was sad. They seem to be fair weather fans. Idk how much the fan support will factor this year though since Davis Wade is such a different environment than “The Rock.” USM’s stadium is definitely a better size for hosting the playoff games. Davis Wade could have 10k fans per side and still feel empty.

Predicted State Championship Scores

You can bet than MSU will have the best conditions possible. They’re a turf/ag school. And they’re the best at what they do. So it’ll be way better than whatever you’re expecting -
That OG loss to Curtis was not a clean one as I recall. Due to some issues with refs and no-calls for sideline interference and artificial noisemakers, OG was unable to hear play calls and nobody did anything about it. Was a shame to see 2 great teams match up and not get a clean game.

Excuse me? Round 2 featured 3 teams from R3 and only 1 from R4. I’d say 75% from one region in the final 4 is pretty dominant. Yes, Gulfport did advance to play in the championship game for the first time since 1999 - and good for them! But I hardly think R3 is “eating crow” after beating 3 out of the 4 R4 teams in Round 1. Overall, R3 is just stronger top to bottom. Brandon got lucky and caught OG in Round 2 on a very bad week. I’d have enjoyed seeing a strong Gulfport team rematch at the end of the season against a healthy OG team who opened the season with a jamboree win against them. Brandon looked wholly unprepared for that south state game. It was embarrassing.

Tupelo 21 Oxford 20 FINAL 7A Championship Game to feature Tupelo vs Gulfport This will be Gulfport’s first championship appearance since 1999. They have one MHSAA football championship in school history - 1982.

That one was a shocker. Very atypical OG performance to turn the ball over more times in 1 game than they had in the entire season to date. 7 mins left with an 11 pt lead and lost in OT. That was a wild one
-
Sounds daddy ball… with the price tag to match
-
Another “everybody gets to be an all star” game. GREAT. Just what we need.
-
Understand here… this is a 3-way tie. So untangling the entire tie involves carrying out the “how’d they do vs OG” question all the way through all 3 tied teams. Making it fair for all 3 tied teams by having the same standard applied to all 3. If after all that they’d still been tied past the “how’d they do vs OG” step, THEN you move on to the next step.
-
Nah - I was more wondering about what would’ve happened for NWR if they hadn’t had to face Gulfport in round 1. They beat Petal and only lost to Brandon by 3 and OG by 3 (at the last second). Arguably the more deserving #2 seed than Petal… or at the very least #3 seed.

Okay. i just find it interesting that you’d go back a step (head-to-head) before you even finish the step you’re on.
