One thing I really don't think people are discussing is assistants. WC is already not just a desirable place to live unless you are already there. If they screw this up and don't hire a Head guy soon then they will not be able to get any assistants to come and on top of that if you don't get the right head guy, your not going to get quality assistants anyway. I really don't care what kind of coach the head man, the assistants and coordinators stir the drink.

AGREED. And for those of you who are keeping up with this, the way you see this thread and how you see the board ran is exactly what the football program over there will be if they end up hiring a hometown boy that everyone thinks they have a piece of. Shoulda took a chance on an outsider quick.

So is the committee just going to to give the BOE a couple of names and let them pick??? No possible way to make everyone happy but from what I understand the committee of Retired Coach Chapman, Basketball Coach, AD, Superintendent, and Bubba is acceptable to everyone (Minus Bubba).

Very good point. College guys are used to jumping at any opportunity and if USM calls and say come be the DC the war eagles will be looking again in 2 months.

I haven't seen a WC job posted anywhere. If Hankins leaves they will have to post is a couple of weeks unless they hire from within. Even if they do want Daryl.

From the outside looking in, It looks like if someone came in with a different system that the kids could get excited about it would help. WC is still a sleeping giant that just needs someone to wake them up.

I don't see it being anyone that has been a Head man over there but could be wrong. I see a Mitch Evens, Lampley, or maybe another coordinator from one of the bigger schools around the area getting looks.

I think this was a good hire for right now because of all the negativity. BUT I do not see it lasting long and not 100% that it really helps the future of the program but for now it fixes some issues.

It wouldn't shock me if it is someone with a connection to Coach Pierson somehow to help smooth over whatever was the problem over there. Certainly wasn't a football issue since they were still competitive.
