Pascagoula is a program in turmoil. The season is over because they are not beating either of the next two opponents which will eliminate them from the playoffs. And Parnell has been in concussion protocol and may not be available -- not that it really matters because the defense is incapable of stopping the run or pass. Warriors roll. It's time for a serious evaluation of the Pascagoula football program, a program which has been losing -- 24-39 since the start of the 2016 season -- far more than winning. With a new AD (and soon to be Superintendent), the administration must decide whether it is serious about competing at high level.

I watched the Pascagoula/Harrison Central replay and was completely unimpressed with HC. They’ll be fodder for good teams. Tonight Gulfport looked slightly better than HC but Pascagoula moved the ball well throughout the game (but red zone woes stalled drives) and OS and d’Iberville will emasculate them.

Gautier will struggle to make the playoffs. Irving is a very good high school QB but, as another member stated, their coaching will betray them and the defense is marshmallow soft. Add to that, they have no running game so the better defensive coaches will scheme them and slow that attack down. Don’t be deceived by the pre region scores, Provine is garbage and Pascagoula has one of the poorer coached defenses in 6A.

Does Biloxi ever merit discussion? They were skull-drug by a 4A school three weeks ago and have been irrelevant for most of fifty years.

South Panola isn't in the top 25% of high school teams across the nation, much less the top 25.

From a Pascagoula fan, you’re must assuredly moving in the right direction. Playing as crisply as you did having faced that adversity is a testament to the coaching/leadership.

If back to back 3-8 and 1-10 seasons were not enough to remove Lewis Sims, then he must have a lifetime contract. Pascagoula is an apathetic, high school sports town in which accountability is no longer demanded.

I think WC can be a very good team. They’re play-action game is going to be deadly with seasoning. Pascagoula, on the other hand, will be fighting for the fourth playoff spot.

It was worth the price of admission. Hubbard has improved as a thrower but may be one of those brittle players. The running back, Humphries, has good quickness and will pile up yards this year. Defensively, they have 6A size but not speed in the context of competing for championships. They have the best overall staff on the coast and should handle most of the teams in the region. I agree about the backup -- he looked like a middle school player. If Hubbard goes down, Pennock would probably move one of their athletes to QB and adjust the offense accordingly.

The Mississippi High School Activities Association will not allow schools learning virtually to compete in athletic competitions this fall, executive director Rickey Neaves said Tuesday. Schools that opt for at-home or virtual learning cannot participate in MHSAA-sanctioned sports or activities until in-person learning is offered. This is a change from the association's COVID-19 protocols last year. "If a school has to go virtual because of COVID, they will not be allowed to play, and any games on their schedule will be forfeited," Neaves said. "We just felt like if the school was bad enough to go virtual that we shouldn’t still be allowing them to congregate with other schools and play." “The reasoning behind that is from the governor on down we believe that the safest place for kids to be is at school. We need to encourage them to be in school."

Whitehead is retiring after this season. This has been confirmed to me by a long time teacher in the district who is in the know. Ocean Springs will win this district if the defense carries a bit of weight. Pascagoula was terrible defensively last year yet almost won 5A south due to the dynamism of Parnell so they will be difficult to handle offensively. Honestly, I'm unaware about the rest of the region but Gulfport has been the most underachieving program in Mississippi over the last 40 years given the typical quality of athlete to student ratio in their enrollment. Their incompetent coaching is unchanged so they will compete but not to their full potential. Biloxi is lacking for playmakers offensively now that Kendrick has graduated so they likely struggle scoring points. Cain is the best coach HC has ever had so they will be a tough out. d'Iberville, well, their success speaks for itself.
