I knew they have some Big 8 championships way back in the day before the Meridian dominance of the Big 8… I remember seeing a very good Hattiesburg team lose a nail biter to West Point in the 1989 5A state championship 24-21 played at Mississippi College.

When has Hattiesburg ever won a state championship in the current playoff format that was established in 1981! You could possibly find Big 8 football championship team from earlier decades!
