  1. It’s funny that West Point is “down” this year and playing for the championship. I watched Cleveland Central put up a heck of a fight and then West Point got that ball with 6:27 to go and did what they do and that was the ballgame. You’re also correct, Holmes County had them beat, but at the end of the game couldn’t run the ball to get a first down, had a terrible punt, and WP drove it 30 yards to take the lead. Say what you will, but those guys know how to win over there.

  2. In the scenario, who gets pushed out to make room for the team who doesn’t belong there? Let’s say a 6A team wants to play 7A. Does that mean the #24 team in 7A moves down to 6A? If not, does that force a 5A to bump up into 6A in order to have the right number of teams in each class? Don’t see how this works without causing heartburn for multiple regions

  3. Maybe Boston at RT to replace that lazy holding penalty at least once a game?

  4. I would be shocked. Moss Point essentially ran him off. They were over him. I remember when they won region and got put out in the 1st round. They were in an uproar over it. That was a big reason he left in the first place. Community pressure. A lot of the residents there believe they should be competing for state titles and they cannot wrap their heads around the fact that those days are largely over.

  6. Everybody is sleeping on Baldwyn. I've seen them play a couple of times. Big and physical up front on both sides of the ball, physical down hill rb, and good speed at the wr positions. LB's get to the ball and secondary is ball hawks. Only down side, looking at their schedule, they haven't had to play a full game since around week 4 or 5.

  7. Ole Miss gets two early morning signatures from skill guys that should start as freshmen. Cunningham and Mills-Knight both should make immediate impact with the offense. Still waiting on Dillon Alfred to sign. Him, Cunningham, Cayden Lee plus whoever we get in the portal should make a solid WR group for Simmons to throw to. On the OL Kenneth Boston signed this morning and could also possibly be a day 1 starter. Comes in with a big body at 6’8 320 and moves good for his size as well. Him with Devin Harper who hasn’t signed yet sets the OL up good for the future. On defense Maison Dunn from Tupelo signed who I expect will see good amount of playing time in the secondary as a freshman. Bama and Louisville made a late push for him but he ended up sticking with Ole Miss. Him, Ladarian Clardy(waiting on signature) and Keon Young(also signed this morning) will be the future of the secondary. ETA:Dillon Alfred and Devin Harper are now signed.

  8. The whole Morgan family is a football family through and through. Brett Morgan at WP and then Josh and Rob at Warren Central. The Morgan family went 19-7 this year and all made it to at least the North Half.

  9. Whoever came up with five dam region games should have been laughed out of the room. A coach winning two or three region games and getting in the playoffs is just an excuse to keep loaf, lazy coaches around. Which may have been part of the thinking of doing it. It's already proven to be poorly thought out

  10. Looking at it now I think your breakdown overall is probably correct . Your defense has to hold long enough for the grind offense to open things up. You have been pretty convincing on their chances of winning. You have the best coach so that always gives you somewhat of a leg up. I hope he's got something not on film cooked up, Simmons is a name everyone who watches the finals should recognize and that is correct that would be a huge upset.

  11. I doubt Grenada would be where they are in 6 classifications because based on the cut line we would be in the higher class with Tupelo, Madison, Germantown, Starkville. It’s hard for us to compete as the smallest 6A. Although we beat Oxford, Clinton, Desoto Central those aren’t exactly powerhouses. Tupelo is on a whole different level.

  12. The number difference between the largest 6A and smallest 6A at the time was the reasoning. Now they have created schools unable to complete a 10 game schedule without driving 3 hrs on a we need you to play Thursday night. No refs.

  13. If there were 6 classes Grenada would be where they traditionally have been in division with Madison, Tupelo, Clinton, Starkville, etc. and are a competitive first round maybe second round team but nothing more. Grenada has roughly 290 students less than the next closest team based on enrollment which would be Starkville. Grenada struggles to compete in that division but still managed to make playoffs most years. Asking them to compete year after year there would be the same as throwing Poplarville in the current 6A class and expecting them to compete.
