All the metrics point to a Brandon & Oak Grove South State Final. But football is a quirky game and these are two games that feature one really old rivalry and one rivalry that only developed over the last twenty years. Beating a team twice can prove to be difficult but can be done and Brandon/OG are certainly more than capable of accomplishing that. Both of the favorites are at home which is usually an advantage. Both overall are better and more balanced teams. The big danger for Brandon/OG is if the games get to the fourth quarter and the issue is still in doubt. Then the pressure of holding on to win or of scoring late to win can be tough obstacles for 16-17 year old kids to overcome. As Mout noted, just glad to see our Wildcats back in the playoffs and after last Friday’s win, we are playing with house money now. Let’s tee it up Friday and see what happens. As Coach Richard Williams noted many years ago, after State beat the number 1seed UCONN in the NCAAT, we only had to beat them once. In a series of games we would have no chance. Similar situation for Pearl and Meridian Friday night. Just have to win once against teams that would probably beat them 8 out of 10 times.

Are you a dyslexic or is alzheimers or some other condition setting in ? Not everyone is out to get you. Pascagoula could only score one TD against the sad Tigers up in Hattiesburg. The strength of their team is the defensive line but this is a bad matchup for them. This might be a mildly competitive game if they had some kind of offense but they don't and it won't be. I wouldn't be surprised if the Tide defense doesn't outscore the Admiral offense. This game will be over before halftime.

It amazes me at how people from Petal think everything they have is bigger and better than everyone else. You will coach at the high classification not level. The facilities are great but not anywhere close to the best in the state.

Exactly, i can't get 2012 out of my head. Been in there all season. As a refresher, in 2012 Picayune went to Pascagoula in early Oct undefeated, and riding something like a 18 game winning streak and were reigning 5A state champions and just demolished Pascagouls in a televised Thursday night bright light games 49-10 at Pascagoula. 6 weeks later we went back to Pascagoula and they ended our season in round 2, 27-10. Our team needs to FORGET the rain game we just played at Pascagoula and learn from past mistakes and be ready this Friday. I think they will.

Shannon will be in the mix for 4A contender next year they got some really good groups of players coming back they reloaded next year and that new coach they got will have everything fall in place for them and will be a powerhouse school next year

Playing in the 3rd round 3 years in a row is pretty impressive for a team that was everyone's homecoming a few years ago. Don't downplay what they have accomplished because Shannon is sitting at home and their former HC sent Bay Springs home early.
