  1. Past hour
  2. I’m going with south delta. I think the other two games in the south are a toss up
  3. Again it was a rivalry game. It was probably the best thing that could have happened to Georgia, they have been on another level since that game. Changing the subject. Not sure who has the ugliest offense, State or the Saints? Both are worse than putrid.
  4. I grew up next to Tippah County and have relatives/friends and such who have attended all of the schools at some point in their lives. I will try and break down a little of the "weirdness" of the place to educate/inform. It doesn't exactly make sense but this is how they operate. The county currently has two districts: North and South Tippah. South Tippah School District Blue Mountain and Pine Grove (K12) Ripley Elementary, Middle, and High schools Ripley is the county seat and has always been by far the largest in the county. It offers football and band. The district allows students to attend any school in the district they wish no matter their address. There are zones in name only but are not enforced or even well known. Blue Mountain demographics have generally been small majority African American/Hispanic and lower income white kids frequently without the means to fund transporation to another school. The school has long been the smallest in terms of enrollment and the chorus of close them has been around for 40 years. The problems are 1. The county's desegregation suit supervision would require federal approval and 2. Ripley, where many of them would go, didn't want them because it would alter their own demographics. Pine Grove is only white students and now picks up students who live closer to Ripley or in the city limits but would rather go to a small school (code words for no minority kids). Ripley's demographics are now almost evenly split between white/black/Hispanic which is a huge shift from the late 80s and early 90s when I was young. Bottom line is there won't be any consolidation there unless forced to because of the social and demographic implications. Pine Grove would start an academy about five minutes after any consolidation vote or talk. North Tippah School District (as of today) Falkner Elementary and High Walnut Attendance Center (K12) Chalybeate Elementary (K8) Chalybeate students attended Walnut starting in 9th grade. LIke South Tippah there are no real zones or enforced lines. The district is much smaller than South Tippah and has almost no tax base or industry. The board voted 3 years ago to merge Walnut and Falkner's upper grades to be housed on Walnut's campus and called North Tippah High. It will only house grades 6-12. Chalybeate will now be K-5 and get former WAC students in those grades as well as their current ones. Falkner Elementary is untouched for now. This has almost caused a civil war as the Falkner families, understandably disappointed, are furious their students will now attend "Walnut" despite a different name, mascot, colors, and the district has renovated both Walnut and Chalybeate campuses to house the new students and changes. Many Falkner families have opted to leave for South Tippah (Ripley or PG), Alcorn County, or homeschooling. Academically and demographically the schools are very similar but North Tippah High will likely be little more than a handful of the FHS families who join the former Walnut students due to the outrage. All the schools in the county are decent academically and socially. Still, ideally there would be two high schools for the county, South and North, and they would be a single school district rather than two.
  5. Today
  6. It sucks to be sitting at 3 losses now, but it’s better now rather than getting the third the last two weeks of the season. At least OM has a chance to move back up in the polls by winning out. There are several 2 loss teams and some will pick up their 3rd and drop at the wrong time. Of the current 3 loss teams, OM has the more favorable schedule left. LSU has Texas and Tennessee left. Missouri and SC still have Georgia left. OM just needs to get the offense back on track against Oklahoma.
  7. As we head into the 2nd round of playoffs for 1A, it seems pretty clear to me on who will advance to round 3 from the North. However, the South has several intriguing matchups that I think could go either way. Here are the matchups with my picks in bold. Share your thoughts on these as well. South Delta at Bogue Chitto Stringer at Ethel (toss-up) Nanih Waiya at Lumberton
  8. Yep McComb, Poplarville, and Pass Christian will score alot on their opponents!
  9. I think will be interesting how they draw up the region schedule. I am sure Magee and Mendenhall will play the last weak. I think McLaurin and Quitman should play first Friday in October at least u get some daylight driving.
  10. They should have taken Pisgah and St Andrew's north. I instead they created a completely new weak region 6. 2 hours to McLaurin pending your direction you drive.
  11. As long as its like game 5 maybe. I can see that. Maybe it works better for some than it does others.
  12. I’d rather play Gulfport than Brandon or Meridian. They’re both tougher matchups than Gulfport. In my opinion.
  13. Vott

    Class 7a South 2026

You would rather play at gport than play a home game in south state? Please explain that
  14. I’m personally praying this happens.
  15. If you told me beforehand that all that happened, I think my reaction would still be “OK so Georgia only won by 14, right?”
  16. That game was after the Georgia-Bama game and Georgia was due for a let down. If you remember, Bama lost to Tennessee the next weekend as well. Plus that is a rivalry game and apparently Georgia forgot that. Throw in the fact they had four turnovers and a missed FG. And that added up to a loss. How is that for an explanation…
  17. I think we are going to keep us an open date next season. That really helped us out this year with all our injuries
  18. I wish Quitman had protested. We are 15 minutes from Clarkdale & 30 minutes from Southeast Lauderdale yet we are not in the same region?!?!?! Instead we are stuck traveling an hour & half to Megee & Mendenhall!!
  19. I highly wager at least one 3 loss team gets in, maybe two. Ole Miss, LSU, and Ohio State did almost everything they could do to NOT be that three loss invite after today.
  20. Gonna need an explanation for how on God’s green earth Georgia managed to lose to Auburn… In Athens, at that.
  21. What a rough weekend for all three teams. USM & Ole Miss get blown out at home and State loses to a bad Vanderbilt team. A couple of games made the weekend a bit less worse … ND beating the Thugs and Michigan losing. Oh and not that I really care but Kiffin losing was okay in my book as well. Just an awful weekend overall.
  22. Not really when coaches have posted on MHSAA website.
  23. There is not chance in the world this team is winning 2 more games. I mean it would be the most surprising thing I’ve witnessed in all my years of being a State fan if they beat either Auburn or Ole Miss. If you can’t beat THAT Vandy team, I have zero belief in you against any other SEC team. Tennessee Tech in two weeks is a good FCS team….. I’m not totally sold on that one being a safe and easy W.
  24. Little early to be posting about the 2027 schedule isnt it?
  25. St Martin week 1 Caledonia weeks 4, 6 Columbia weeks 1, 2
  26. St Martin week 1 Caledonia weeks 4, 6 Columbia weeks 1, 2
  27. 83, I pretty much agree. IF Lebby showed more improvement last year, he would have banked some leniency… he needs to find 2 more wins to survive.
