Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't most folks want to see a reduction in 11-man classifications? I'm not talking about what the MHSAA wants or doesn't want. If there's not a reduction in 11-man classifications, then what are we really accomplishing by merging the two associations together?
- Today
-
If they did merge, I would be curious to see what the numbers would be for MRA, Prep, etc. I imagine they would be in the 5A range with the 1.5 multiplier added to their 9-11 numbers?
-
I think that would make a ton of sense or if you wanted you could have 1A 11-man and 1A 8-man or something along those lines. Texas breaks it down as Division I 1A and Division II 1A. Division I is 11-man and Division II is their 6-man football.
-
weeping and gnashing of teeth upcoming if the private schools have to go play at rosa fort, byers, byhalia, inner city jackson fields........boy howdy
-
kosy and louisville may be heads and shoulders above all other 4A north teams this year. i'm not sure there are any others near as good as those 2.
-
Kosciusko is another team that I would think would be very close. They are returning a lot from last years team.
-
They are good and I agree that West is too low. There may be somebody that’s a little too high, but it should all work itself out in the wash. Out the gate we get #4 and #17 who just so happen to be the defending state champions of the largest classifications of the MHSAA and MAIS. I don’t recall if that’s ever happened before, but we should be battle tested after two weeks regardless of outcome.
-
Best rankings I’ve seen. Chris and Brandon are the best. West Jones is a little low. They’ll be a top 8 team by mid October.
-
However they want to do it. Right now we don’t have enough teams to justify having 7 classes. Adding the MAIS would make it a little better.
- Yesterday
-
So would you make 1A all 8-man, then have 6 classes of 11-man?
-
I kind of like the idea to be honest. Especially if we gonna have 7 classes
-
Last year I think everyone self reported, so they just got the verbal warning.
-
If only Hattiesburg had been mentioned probably so. But with other schools mentioned, I knew it was just something minor. Who knows Hattiesburg and the other schools mentioned may have self reported what they did. No worries.
-
Admit it. After the conversations around H’burg recruiting Tuesday as soon as you saw the thread title you felt uneasy. As soon as he named Hattiesburg you felt your cheeks tighten a bit.
-
That's just a byproduct of being in 2-7A. They could easily play their way into the top 25.
-
yes but it could hamper some meet the team activities also
-
germantown is the first team that comes to mind. I'll be interested to see 1A thru 7A classification rankings as well
-
I read that Germantown lost a bunch apparently but they’ll still be good
-
Like Germantown
-
In other words, get practices in early in the morning or late in the evening. Not in the middle of the day or 3:00 in the afternoon.
-
I’m not mad at the list. Normally Gridiron has a bit of a love fest with Brandon so either the coaches know something the fans don’t (willing to bet this) or they want them to actually prove preseason hype this time around.
-
this is sort of what this is as well. not following practice guidelines....so many days in just helmets, then just helmet and pads more than likely. Some might get it this week as well with the ole wet bulb coming in to play.
-
It’s not a terrible list
-
I remember last season about 13 schools were put on probation for putting pads on too early
