Has this been confirmed? I figured Mendenhall would be in the district with Quitman.
-
As far as I know all the north teams play football
-
How many non football teams in 2A north will get the ball rolling with say Region 1 4 football and 1 non football. Then you go from there. In 3A you may have 4 teams in region 3 in the Delta or send St Andrew's north. Then send Union north to Region 4. That makes 20/20. Region 8 will have OLA and 4 football schools in 3A.
-
I agree that the 6 should be together however the original rule is the director makes the call. He got the board to give him authority last year on 5A-7A going 5/6/7 teams based on geography. He will need to do the same before placing 4A-1A schools.
-
Makes the most sense. The only other thing would be to move lanier down to region 3, which is possible I suppose. Would basically keep everything around I55 minus Natchez.
-
I don’t see how they can keep 5 teams in every region because you have 6 teams in the southwest part of the state that are all close to each other but nowhere near anybody else…. Wilkinson Co., Amite Co., Enterprise Lincoln, Bogue Chitto, Loyd Star, and Wesson. Where else can you put any of those schools? Even if you put Wesson with Puckett, Pelahatchie, and Mize… who would be the 5th team? Scott Central? Wesson isn’t anywhere near any of those schools. Every single one of those schools is 60-90 minutes away from Wesson. There is nothing that makes any geographical sense with those 6 southwestern ms schools. You pretty much have no choice but to leave them all together in one region. And that means you end up with another region only having 4 teams. Unless you have 21 teams in the south and 19 in the north, which would leave one region up north with 4 teams instead.
-
2A South isn’t gonna slice nice for everyone. If they keep all the regions at 5 teams someone is gonna have a bad draw driving wise no matter what it’s just a matter of how they decide to do it.
- Today
-
They had to drive to Raleigh 2 times.
-
I guess you could put Philadelphia and Kemper both in the south and then just have 19 teams in 2A north, with one of those north regions only having 4 teams.
-
That’s way too far of a drive for Wesson to every school.
-
Is it possible that Louisville may join the south in 4A next season! Looking at the new classification and it looks possible
-
In the South u got McComb and Poplarville who i think will battle it out at South state and then u got Pass Christian and Columbia that most likely make a 3rd round appearance! After that i dont see other teams doing anything! In the North u got Louisville, Kozy, Shannon and Senatobia who i think will all play in the 3rd round! But its also some sneaky teams in the North that could upset somebody like Houston, Greenwood, maybe Rosa Fort so like i said earlier its going to get interesting in the North but i like Louisville and Kozy for North State once again when its all said and done
-
The only other scenario I could see would be keeping Philadelphia in the north and moving Kemper to the south Region 5: Lake Scott central Puckett pelahatchie Region 6: Enterprise Clarke Bay Springs Heidelberg Newton Kemper County Region 7: Wesson enterprise Lincoln Loyd star Amite Wilkinson Bogue Chitto Region 8: Mize collins north Forrest Perry central east Marion
-
ok and look like it just only 3 teams good in the South and in the North about 3 or 4 or maybe 5
-
He might put Wesson in region 6 but if so then it will be Mize, Puckett, and Pelahatchie and maybe Lake similar to when they were 3A. I think if one is pulled to Region 8 it will be Bpgue Chitto or Enterprise Lincoln.
-
That was the ideal but it has backfired in some regions.
-
3A South: Region 5: Quitman, SE Lauderdale, Clarkdale, Union, Raleigh, Pisgah Region 6: McLaurin, St Andrew's, Magee, Mendenhall, Crystal Springs, Hazlehurst Region 7: Port Gipson, Jefferson County, Franklin County, JDC, Tylertown Region 8 OLA, St Patrick, PCS, Seminary, West Marion
-
As long as excitement has been increased then I guess 7 classes is worth it.
-
Yep any sport after football and basketball.
-
Pass Christian in the same boat as Senatobia as far as the games they have scheduled! Neither team has been battle tested! But its not as many tough teams down south that could knock em off early! They’ll see McComb 3rd round and thats gone be a good game
-
Bogue Chitto to Region 8 like once before but with 5A-7A going 5/6/7 team regions it will probably be 5/4/6/5 in the south 2A.

Now that the numbers have been released there appears to be much less movement than anticipated across some of the schools. However, to get an idea how much the overall school enrollment has dropped, look back at the number of some of these places when 7 classes were implemented. Most of the schools I've spot checked lost students, even in the larger areas. It's to be expected in some of the smaller, more rural communities that are hanging on by a thread and sometimes in the smaller classifications, a big or small class can move the needle. Here are some very interesting numbers, at least to me: During the 2022 relclassifcation, St. Patrick reported 334 and for 2026 it's 275. That's a steep drop off for a private school in a relatively high population area. Sacred Heart had 135 and now 107, French Camp 112 to 84, Resurrection 113 to 90. We will never know MAIS figures but I wonder if it's them, more homeschooling, or if the decline in the number of students who were born is that significant.
-
That’s a possibility, but man do you know how horrible that baseball region would be? Philadelphia, Bay Springs, Newton, and Heidelberg
-
To see it better Google misshsaa and click on a specific class.
-
That's what you meant by some funny stuff a few weeks back. More like 4/5/6 team regions.
