Watered down districts desperate for 7 classes
slicklizard replied to slicklizard's topic in Football
This crap now is so stupid and not thought out. If 7 classes were needed fine but don't destroy making it competitive. Make every game a playoff game.If you make the playoffs you will meet someone you already played. Twenty years ago this was the norm and it was awesome. Often the loser of the first would win in the tournament. It was awesome - Today
-
I see so many that now get to make the playoffs that before 23 we’re bottom 2 of their districts.
-
Going to 7 classes and four sorry district games was a stupid idea . I would like to know the mush brain that proposed the district setup. East Central Northeast Jones Purvis Stone VanCleave Wayne County Sumrall South Jones North Pike Natchez Laurel Brookhaven That's South 5A. 12 teams .11 games that are all district . Make it mean something again. Brookhaven may have to go to East Central twice. So be it . Get on the dam bus and ride. What's wrong with doing it ?
-
I still enjoy a ride on Friday as much as I ever have . I will do it now once or twice a year and as you said soak it in all the way there. Npw let me be more frank , this watered down nonregion thing has killed most of my trips I used to take. It feels different when you are traveling to a game that is the equivalent to a piece of folded light bread and a hot diet coke as a meal. Yes, the clock runs and somebody wins but that's all I see is stats for the records. This needs to be fixed. More region games.

If the teachers are non sports fans I can see that. If i hated sports, after being at school all day monday-friday and then being told to work on a friday evening until 10pm or later i would definitely not be a happy camper..
-
Bottom line is they don't want to work the gate, the ticket booth or the concession stand because their too good to be there on a Friday night. The younger teachers aren't interested in being at a game when they can be at home with the their 2 year olds or at an Applebee's or Chick-fa-la .

I was just making a suggestion. Probably will never happen. Maybe i should have said Pelahatchie.
-
does kosciusko really play at choctaw county on sept 25?
-
some things are dying out like newspapers.........
-
I would rather do cash also, but will admit GoFan is a better fit for the ones working the gate. I went to a Hattiesburg baseball game on the road that used GoFan only and knew the person working the gate. His day was done about an hour after the game started because he did not have to count out the cash. In fact he left before the game was over. LOL. I see both sides of it.
-
As someone who doesn’t carry cash often these days it doesn’t bother me. I’d argue having to stop at an ATM before the game is a bigger inconvenience than paying for a ticket on my phone.
-
Well it's part of the job and it was never an issue before. All GoFan does is inconvenience people because you have to have cash for concessions. If you're paying cash for that, you should be able to pay cash for admission.
-
this makes it to where the admin doesn't have to deal with getting the money box before is stolen and then the task of counting all those green bills.
-
Picayune is doing GoFan only for tickets. They've accepted cash for tickets since the 1920s when Picayune started playing football. The last time I checked, the US dollar is legal tender for all debts public and private. (Oh and GoFan charges a fee, so it's not cheaper at all).
-
Manchester has been 11 man the last three seasons and went 1-9 in 2025 and 2024. It's foolish to suggest a match up with Morton
-
Well @Tiburon Picayune is now cashless. I know you can’t see this reply, but I thought of all places it wouldn’t happen at Picayune. I know you wouldn’t be happy with this and neither am I.
-
Morton vs Manchester???? How would that even be fair. Is Manchester even back playing 11 man?
-
Brandon vs MRA or Manchester vs Morton might be a better option than Brandon vs Ocean Springs or Morton vs Leflore County for regular season games.
-
Really if travel is the issue with MAIS then go with 1-8 in the south and 1-8 in the north. That way eliminate Parklane traveling to Magnolia Heights, etc, etc. Same with MHSAA going back to 4 regions in 1A footbal. Otherwise MHSAA would have go back to neutral site games for travel purposes in the playoffs for example double headers in the Hattiesburg area for 7A, 6A, and really all playoff games if necessary.
-
If schools in South Mississippi join that league certainly it will be those along the Pearl River and alonf hwy 28 and 84 due to the same travel experience.
-
Someone had a thread on here asking what the new Alabama split would mean for the MAIS schools. I said you could see some of the of the MAIS schools joining the new Alabama association. I was mainly referring to the schools in the southern part of the state that are traveling four and five hours especially during playoffs. Maybe this is the opportunity they are needing. I’m with s1nglewing the MAIS isn’t struggling
-
MAIS isn't struggling. The main idea is to coordinate with both leagues the evolving landscape of athletics (NIL, transfer eligibility, etc.)

Depends on their health.
-
1 MAIS is struggling and we may get a merger someday. 2 MGSAA coaches need opponents for all these open dates so we may get a scheduling agreement but not 8 man. 3 1.5 multiplier has become a stinky issue. 4 Wait and see?
