Everybody knew Tristan Keys was gonna be the next big thing when he was in Pee Wee.
-
Talking about the dude that does the Tik toks? I think he’s from Magee. I know he does a lot of content for different teams but I know he does a lot of videos for Taylorsville.
-
I guess ill have to check out a 5th/6th grade football game out this fall and see if the next Tristen Keys is out there. Lol
-
Youth football in Mississippi has become an absolute circus with recruiting. It’s digusting what these “adults” are doing to a child’s game.
-
There are some that you know will be studs. And yes they absolutely do recruit them. At Hattiesburg they even find houses for them at good prices to move to, and even try to find jobs for their parents. And there’s nothing illegal about that. As long as the player moves into the district, it’s fine. But there are some of those kids that move into the district initially, then eventually move back out of the district but keep going to school at Hattiesburg.
-
I dont believe getting 5th 6th graders from youth leagues is recruiting. Kids that age arent truly developed and you cant tell whether or not he will be good in high school
-
They use their youth league to do alot of recruiting. Them, oak grove, and Columbia had been doing it for a while. Scott central used to do it too, they poached alot of players from Forest. That’s when Scott central got really good in 2A and won some state championships and Forest was suffering for a little bit. Forest now has kind of put the clamps on it.
-
The kid from north Forrest is a RB, and they recruited him 2 years ago.
-
He went to school in Taylorsville in elementary school, but he stayed in trouble and was always being suspended and failing class. The superintendent at that time then made him go to Mize, hoping it would give him a fresh start and help the kid. Well it worked. He became a better student, made better grades, and got in less trouble. He was a really good young athlete. Agee has been trying to convince him to come back to Tville for a couple years. But this last year as a true freshmen he was upset that he wasn’t playing as much as he thought he should be playing and started telling everybody he was gonna go back to Tville, and he is. He’s not been to any practices because I think he may be playing travel baseball but you will see him eventually. As for the other players he’s tried to recruit from Mize, it’s our best player Gray and our QB/LB Agee. He’s also buddies with a guy from Magee that’s also tried to recruit those players for him. This guy (his friend) has been trying to convince different players to leave Mize for a couple years with no success, mostly to Simpson academy, including my son who will also be a senior next year, and that I would never allow to happen anyway. Kind of disappointed to see it happen, because our head coach has always liked Agee and has a lot of good things to say about him. But I guess that’s what high school sports has become now. Everybody recruits now I guess.

Day 1 bracket for Omaha is set: West Virginia vs Troy Ole Miss vs North Carolina I don’t see Troy as a threat to make it out of that but they could definitely win a game or so. Feels like the OM/UNC winner is going to be the favorite, but don’t discount West Virginia’s chances either. You’d much rather be on that side of the bracket than the side that’s got Texas and Georgia in it.
-
I think the pitching will improve and while the firepower will be down a bit I think we will be a good offense team next year as the season moves along.
-
Don’t see how they could match the firepower of this years lineup. We’ll probably take a step back there. The big thing is landing another reliever or 2. Bauer’s development is a huge piece of next year too. He showed flashes near the end but was inconsistent
-
Will be interesting to see what the lineup looks like on opening day next year. At least 6 of the 9 guys that started all five postseason games for State will not be back. A lot of Lemonis holdovers in that group, it will be a different looking team come February, with some names like Parker, Valincius, and McPherson likely needing to be the centerpieces moving forward.
-
Felt like we’ve seen Jacob Parker in that situation about 7 times this year. It was a fun season with a lot of tough losses. The jump from last year makes this program exciting again. Think this was a home-run hire with O’Conner
-
State definitely had the right guy up to end the game. Credit to UGA for pitching him really well in that AB. Parker is incredible though. Just an unbelievably talented hitter. Will be a household name in college baseball the rest of his time at State.
-
i was waiting on the 3 run homer
-
Basically like I expected. Win the Regional and lose the SR. But I like where the program is headed. Future is bright.
-
Man, objectively those were two entertaining as heck baseball games. State came all the way back and took the lead, but couldn’t close it out. Georgia wins in extras. State will lose a good bit going into next year but also should return some really good building blocks in its starting rotation, Jacob Parker, and few freshman bullpen arms. This team had a high ceiling and it sucks that they didn’t quite reach it on the pitching side and that kept them out of Omaha… but it’s good to see State baseball back in the mix in big postseason games after a few years of wandering aimlessly for the most part. All things considered, I view this season as a good starting point for the O’Connor era.
-
Georgia can really hit but our pitching with the walks/HBP’s has been horrible. Aoki is like college version of Maddox. Very tough with changing speeds etc.
-
Game not over but feels like today will be the end of the line for State. Georgia can really hit and State’s pitching staff pretty much no showed the weekend…. Not a good combination. Georgia and Texas (presumably) matching up in Omaha is going to be really good TV.
-
Their trying to come to Raleigh too. Just tells me there a problems.
-
I been a practice and have not seen any new kids. How can the kid live in Taylorsville and play at Mize. Which kids is he trying to recruit from Mize. I know he has a cousin that goes to Mize but he hasn’t reached out to him or the kid dad who is Agee great uncle or something like that
-
Ive only heard of two that have come in. And one had to because his dad was named the head baseball coach. And the kid from FCAHS. But if anyone has come in from somewhere else i haven’t heard about it.
-
This year is probably the worst I’ve seen.
