Football In MS replied to TheRadioGuy's topic in Football
I never understood why EVERY SINGLE ONE of y’all picked against Petal at home at last week. And it didn’t make sense to me why OG seemed to be the huge upset opportunity at their own hoco. Even when the older Hill boy was Meridian’s offense a couple of years ago, OG beat Meridian at Meridian. And the last time Meridian beat OG was a decade ago. So all the chatter on this one seemed more like OG hate than anything else. And for whatever reason they seemed to get a lot of hate surrounding this game. (IMHO, Vance is a big part of that leftover from his HHS days…) Both games had missed calls and both games had coaches who were HOT about it. But in the end the teams who lost just didn’t do what they needed to get the job done when it all came down. You can’t fault refs for missed kicks. And in the end, that was your ballgame in both places (notwithstanding the OG touchdown with a minute left that was not called as a touchdown). -

And that's all good, but to Vott's point they need to get someone in there to recruit the area. This is a hot bed for talent and usually you see the athletes here in Pearl River County go elsewhere. The only ones you see from this area that go to The River are usually ones that want to stay close to home, which is fine, but whoever the next coach is needs to invest in spending time recruiting the area. There's too much talent here to let it slip through the cracks and not do anything about it. -

Yes it's new this year due to teacher shortages. I believe it's only like 30-90 days not 6 months out and draw like 60% of regular pay. I forgot the Bill # that passed -
Have been very impressed with the job Tracy Lampley and his staff are doing at WC. They have four losses I know all non region games. Three of those four losses are by a total of ten points a one point loss, a two point loss and a seven point loss all in the closing seconds of the games. They are scoring points and looking really good on offense. The defense is getting better every game. The work he’s doing off of the field has been really impressive as well. He’s getting the community back involved. He has different restaurants donating food for the players regularly. He has a group of people not parents that cook for the players and a group that sees that they don’t leave hungry after games on Friday nights. It may not sound like a lot but you have to know where the program has been. He is building back the booster club as well. Player are coming back out it’s different when you have someone who helped build WC . Great job and Go War Eagles!!!

I honestly didn't know that. So is that like a blanket law that allows Mississippi employees to retire, come back after six months and work full time without getting penalized? -
Just when I thought Natchez was serious about possibly getting the no.2 seed in Region 3 5a they decided to let the real Natchez team show up vs Laurel. Over the years, I dont know how many of you have ever seen Natchez play. But when you watch them come on the field for pregame warmups and then run out of the locker room right before kickoff they look as athletic of any team I have ever seen. And then when the game begins at times it looks like they are playing football for the first time

He can coach and draw retirement. I believe it’s like six months which gets him through football season. Boyles at Petal is retired -

New law allows him to come back without messing that up right? -

I have no problem with focusing on character instead of the baggage laden garbage you see all over. I understand your points though. I respect him for sticking to his beliefs if if true. -

West Point only has 2 possible wins left with Caledonia and Columbus. Heck they might struggle with Caledonia since they've won some games this year. I believe they tried to get Chambless last year from Gordo and it didn't work, so that ship has probably sailed. Once you start drawing PERS and letting the COLA compound, you really don't want to screw that up. -

I do not know if I were them I would move mountains to get the GOAT back in Chambliss. I believe he still lives there and is coaching in Alabama. -

Why do they want to go the high school route again? This isn't a high school. -

Maybe they can hire Jenny Craig as a dietician. At least that would be a start. -

What are they going to do there? Rolling Uncle Ruckus back out there is not an option I wouldn’t think. -

North 7A - Tupelo 6A - Warren Central or Lake Cormorant ------ I only say this as a possibility because Lake Cormorant is beyond talented defensively probably second to only Tupelo and its close from a sheer talent perspective which is absolutely crazy to say considering Tupelo is a travel ball squad. Lake Cormorant rotates 6 Defensive Linemen that all look like identical twins that are 6'3-6'5 250. If you haven't seen the talent they have on the defensive side of the football it is an injustice. They have 5-6 legitimate division 1 football players anchored by 2027 Eric Vaulx DE and Rashod Bobo LB - Florida State Commit and Western Kentucky Commit respectively and 2028 Ty'Jah Brown DL - Uncommitted but holds multiple offers from SEC schools. In the 2029 class they have Jaden McGregory CB that holds Ole Miss and Arkansas offers and Khalil Sims a 6'5 240 DE with a Florida State offer). To have that much talent on one side of the football is insane! There are other players that will be recruited but are not being recruited yet. They have other players that I expect to get offers QB - Curtis Shields will be a DB at next level. Also an OLB and WR. 5A - Put name in a hat and leave West Point out. 4A - LOUISVILLE 3A - WINONA 2A - KEMPER COUNTY 1A - I have no idea -
