Bricks. WJ first game on turf week 3 vs South jones
-
Is that Between the Bricks or the first game on the new WJ turf?
-
Burn It All
-
Not likely, but what would it do to WJ if Laurel happens to pull it out?
-
Trust me. If WJ beats Laurel by double digits again it will absolutely matter to them. They 110% expect this years game to be closer on the scoreboard than the last few if not expect to win. They are talking all kinds of noise. Even their new o line coach, former WJ coach Corey reynolds. If this game is essentially over by halftime it will completely mess them up mentally somewhat for most, if not all, the season.
-
No way! That would take away The Little Brown Jug matchup with Hattiesburg.
-
I 100% support this idea.
-
I think it will be a carbon copy of last season. Struggle in non region play. Go 4-1 and finish 2nd in Region3 5A. Win 2 playoff games and play Brookhaven for south state. All that matters is region play. West Jones Hattiesburg Gulfport and Oak Grove could put a 50 piece on them but in the end it doesnt mean a thing once region play starts. I have them going 1-4 in non region. Beating West Harrison. So 5-5 in regular season 2 playoff wins and a loss in south state. That will be 7-6 in 2026 season
-
With them being one of your rivals I can understand it. But the south needs stronger representation consistently in 5a. Thank goodness Brookhaven turned it on at the right time last season.
-
And I for one am all for them sucking. Especially Laurel. The longer they keep this head coach the better. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Their fans think they going to state every single year. I got them winning 5 tops this year. And that’s me being generous. WJ bout to drop 40 on them.
-
To be fair… a handful of these programs should be significantly better than what they are right now. Especially WC and Laurel.

Watered down districts desperate for 7 classes

It really was stupid to go to 7 classes. If anything we only needed 5 classes. -
It is all sports activities, not just football.

It's not just 5A south that is wattered down but most of the divisions and classes. Five classes is more than enough for a state our size with a decreasing public school enrollment as well as school consolidation. Per the director, the new class "increased excitement" but in reality all it did was pump more money into the association. I spoke out about the stupidity of this before it ever played out and pretty much what I predicted would happen has come to pass. There are ways to shape the classes that reduce the size differentials, craft districts that reduce undue travel burden, and would almost certainly increase competition and subsequently excitement. We all know that isn't going to happen under the existing leadership. Neaves is from close to my home area in NE MS and I heard mostly positive things about him as a school adminstrator. I just think seven classes was one step too far to split hairs. -

This crap now is so stupid and not thought out. If 7 classes were needed fine but don't destroy making it competitive. Make every game a playoff game.If you make the playoffs you will meet someone you already played. Twenty years ago this was the norm and it was awesome. Often the loser of the first would win in the tournament. -
I see so many that now get to make the playoffs that before 23 we’re bottom 2 of their districts.
-
Going to 7 classes and four sorry district games was a stupid idea . I would like to know the mush brain that proposed the district setup. East Central Northeast Jones Purvis Stone VanCleave Wayne County Sumrall South Jones North Pike Natchez Laurel Brookhaven That's South 5A. 12 teams .11 games that are all district . Make it mean something again. Brookhaven may have to go to East Central twice. So be it . Get on the dam bus and ride. What's wrong with doing it ?
-
I still enjoy a ride on Friday as much as I ever have . I will do it now once or twice a year and as you said soak it in all the way there. Npw let me be more frank , this watered down nonregion thing has killed most of my trips I used to take. It feels different when you are traveling to a game that is the equivalent to a piece of folded light bread and a hot diet coke as a meal. Yes, the clock runs and somebody wins but that's all I see is stats for the records. This needs to be fixed. More region games.

If the teachers are non sports fans I can see that. If i hated sports, after being at school all day monday-friday and then being told to work on a friday evening until 10pm or later i would definitely not be a happy camper..
-
Bottom line is they don't want to work the gate, the ticket booth or the concession stand because their too good to be there on a Friday night. The younger teachers aren't interested in being at a game when they can be at home with the their 2 year olds or at an Applebee's or Chick-fa-la .

I was just making a suggestion. Probably will never happen. Maybe i should have said Pelahatchie.
-
does kosciusko really play at choctaw county on sept 25?
-
some things are dying out like newspapers.........
-
I would rather do cash also, but will admit GoFan is a better fit for the ones working the gate. I went to a Hattiesburg baseball game on the road that used GoFan only and knew the person working the gate. His day was done about an hour after the game started because he did not have to count out the cash. In fact he left before the game was over. LOL. I see both sides of it.
-
As someone who doesn’t carry cash often these days it doesn’t bother me. I’d argue having to stop at an ATM before the game is a bigger inconvenience than paying for a ticket on my phone.
