Ole Miss @ Florida. I agree that with Chambliss Ole Miss will find a way to win this game. People forget that Florida is coming off an emotional win as well. It may be a bit ugly but Ole Miss wins 34-21. Mizzou @ State. Missouri is a good team but State has seemingly closed the talent gap. I look for State to play well and get the victory 35-24. Texas @ Tennessee should be a good game. Texas seems to get all the luck and Tennessee seems to find a way to shoot themselves in the foot. Texas 20-17. Okie @ Jawja. Usually when people write off Oklahoma they surprise everyone. Look for them to make this an ugly low scoring game. Georgia wins but it will not be pretty. 24-14. A&M @ LSU. LSU lets Ole Miss beat them twice. A&M comes off the mat from an eight count and beats LSU 27-20. SCAR gets boat raced by Bama in the first half but scores some late to make the score more respectable. Bama 42-28. Vandy @ Auburn. Vandy’s luck runs out but Aubie is not that good so look for an ugly game. Auburn 20-17. Tulsa @ Arkansas. Arkansas finds a to get a win as Tulsa self implodes. Arky 23, Tulsa 21. USM @ Tulane. A once competitive rivalry is renewed. Unfortunately for USM, they are on the wrong side of the talent on the field. Tulane 38, USM 17.

Busting up that region that had West and WC in it then going to seven classes pretty much set this rivalry into a death march. We don't really have one anymore

I wouldn't doubt if there wasn't tie breakers involved. They all have different flaws so it's impossible to predict

Everyone is exited to an extent their team is winning. If losing less excitement and less gate. Taylorsville brought appx 60 fans to Raleigh. Normally the sideline behind the fence is full G to G 4 or 5 deep and end zones 3 man deep.

The numbers they both turned in last October throws them back into top of 4A. I have Sumrall at 466 #3 4A and Purvis at 451 #5 4A last fall. So I will say they are borderline 5A/4A.

Gonna be an interesting game for sure. I know meridian got athletes for sure but same as hburg. I know Vance got some tricks up his sleeve but if hburg don't get in their own way they should have the edge.

I can agree with that. For now, there doesn't appear to be a clear front runner. If Picayune finds a way to beat Poplarville Friday night, then I think it would clear things up a bit.

If Lampley got his hands on some old game film he should show them what this rivalry once was. Then he should say this can be the group that can bring it back. Let them know it won’t be easy but nothing worth a crap is easy. Tell them what the rivalry meant to both communities and tell them to go put their stamp on one of the all time great games Yall vs Us let tell them to go look it up on YouTube and let it fire them up. Kids today are different sure you have the standouts that are self motivated. But it’s harder today to get teams to be self motivated

MAIS went to 3 classes 3A largest 20 in 5 regions of 4 St Joe to Region 1 north East Rankin to Region 2 east/northeast 4 largest stayed together in Jackson Park Place Region 4 with Simpson Mississippi Louisiana schools in Region 5 PCS would save money by scheduling 2A schools in the south. Maybe 1 or 2 Jackson area schools on schedule. I think they save more money by playing public schools closer by. I guess they can compete with Purvis, Sumrall among others in 4A with the multiplier. I still question whether or not the multiplier was already used to put them in 3A now. It's been in the handbook for many years.

I believe MAIS Class 4A is now 3 or 4 regions with 4 or 5 schools each. It split the Jackson schools. PCS would still have to travel to Parklane, Copiah, and Simpson i think for Region 3 or 4.

6 schools per regions helps with scheduling in 6 classes. 7 classes have created more open dates and less home gate.

Honestly, I do not know if that region has ever been as wide open as it is right now. Picayune, Pascagoula, PRC, Gautier and Hancock are all capable of making it, or being left out. Even Long Beach is 3-1 right now.

Speaking of Pascagoula, I will go ahead and pencil in Picayune as the no.1 seed in Region 4 6a. But will PRC get the no.2 spot this season and Goula the no.3?

I agree with most of this. I think d'Iberville got a little "too cute" as they say in the first half and missed on several passes, including a few that would have put them deep in Pascagoula territory instead of focusing on their bread and butter. In the 2nd half, they just decided to run it down Pascagoula's throat and that coupled with how bad the Panther offense was - ran the 'Goula defense down. d'Iberville is a good football team, but that is about it. Nothing I saw from their game with Pascagoula says they will beat a region 3 team come playoff time - especially not Oak Grove, Brandon or Petal.

Especially if the MAIS revised their classes. They were always paired with teams like JA, Prep, MRA, and Heritage even though those teams were way bigger than PCS.

Loaded week of games. A little irritated at my cousin for putting her wedding on Saturday evening lol. But such is life. Should be a really fun day. Ole Miss at Florida - UF actually a favorite in this game. It does feel like a rather big letdown opportunity for Ole Miss, doesn’t it? I like UF’s roster quite a bit and think this will be an awesome game. But I’m not picking against Trinidad Chambliss until he or OM gives me a better reason to. Rebels win this one by 4 on a late TD. Missouri at State - State nearly a TD favorite in this one, wow! First ranked vs ranked game at Davis Wade since 2017. In an alternate reality Kamario and Austin Simmons would be duking it out in the Egg Bowl this year, but here we are. Mizzou is a good team that can absolutely win this game. Their balance on offense scares me for State. But I think State playing at home, in front of what should be a highly energetic crowd in a night game, gets the job done. Kamario and the offense keep rolling and State scores late to win 38-28. Texas at Tennessee - I love this matchup, odd that it’s happening in the middle of the day. Feeling a little adventurous here, I think I like the Vols to pull the upset at Neyland. Oklahoma at Georgia - loved this matchup before the season when I thought OU’s offense would be improved. It’s not, I think Georgia wins an ugly low scoring game. A&M at LSU - I’ve got some concerns about LSU’s offense but I don’t think A&M is all that good this year. I have LSU winning at home by double digits. South Carolina at Alabama - Bama has been a weird team to start this year. I like sons of SC’s pieces but have no faith in Sellers to play clean enough to win this. I think Bama wins by two TD’s and we perhaps have a really interesting matchup in Starkville next Saturday. Vandy at Auburn - Vandy may be the luckiest 3-0 team to ever live. First road start for a freshman QB, and it’s at Jordan Hare. Don’t really love this Auburn team but I think they find a way at home. Tulsa at Arkansas - i have no faith in Arkansas and Tulsa is 3-0 with a two touchdown win over Oklahoma State. I have Tulsa winning this. USM at Tulane - the Will Hall Bowl. Hard to have a ton of confidence in USM after last weekend, but Tulane isn’t good either. I’ll take Tulane but could see it being close.

They were mad about the multiplier and leading a fight against it so I wouldn't be surprised if they went back to MAIS

I wasn't impressed with D'Iberville. Typical stuff ... they'll be the two seed and get waxed in the first round by a Region 3 opponent. Walley throws well enough but they don't have a dynamic running back to balance out that offense. Pascagoula's defense fatigued (this will be a common theme given how inept the offense is) and they scored a garbage TD in the closing moments but, otherwise, it was a competitive game for almost three quarters.
