New Albany has 300 acres near the current elementary school which could house a new middle school, new high school, gymnasium, football field and a track. Refer to my previous post on Ingomar, "it'll never happen". When East Union started football there was a time that players were from all the county schools( the union county band plays at east union football games) and students are from the whole county. Ingomar boys basketball complained enough to get the practice stopped due to basketball players from ingomar missing valuable time in the gym while playing football. after that, Myrtle began their own football team.

They will keep those schools open until the building falls in if they let them. They could build 1 central high school for all 4 smaller schoools.

Union county has east union-2A, Myrtle currently 2A but fixing to drop to 1A, west union-1A and Ingomar-1A and New Albany, a large 4A. myrtle and West Union should consolidate 5 years ago

Wheeler is north of Baldwyn in Prentiss County. Booneville is a district and so is Baldwyn. Prentiss County Schools are Wheeler, Thrasher, Jumpertown and New Site, with Marietta and Hills Chapel both being K-8 schools that feed into New Site for 9-12.

Union Counrltywould have to consolidate probably into 2 high schools and 1 superintendent.

Where is Wheeler? I thought Union County had 4 small schools and then New Albany.

I'm not sure how that would work. East Union is located on the edge of Union County and is a far piece from all the other schools in union county.

that's why your going to end up with Nettleton and Mooreville and Shannon in a district towards Macon and Louisville once they send 2 or 3 schools in some direction west or south.

I am beginning to think the number 27 or 28 the news threw out there when discussing consolidation may very well be cutting the counties especially smaller counties back to one district office. Hinds-JPS Pearl-Rankin County Forest Municipal-Scott County Newton City-Newton County-Union Meridian-Lauderdale Enterprise-Clarke County Philadelphia-Neshoba County East-West Jasper Laurel-Jones County Hazlehurst-Copiah County Columbia-Marion County McComb-Pike County Hattiesburg-Forrest County Richton-Perry County The coastal counties except for George and Stone i would have to go looking. That's just the south.

Yes they both do. On3 says OG has a 58% win chance on the road at Petal.......... After further review, OG will blast Houston TN and I figure Petal beats WJ around 40-17

Correct. That’s where the money goes, to the districts. Not the actual schools. And I don’t consider a 2A school to be tiny.

The pockets being lines IS about the main reason to do it. That is a lot of payroll the state could cut out forcing consolidations. If the casino tax money that was supposed to help fund education actually went towards education we wouldn’t be in such a money bind.

Isn’t Rankin also 1 district for entire county? I know at one point there was talk of Jones County School District absorbing Laurel cause all but 1 Laurel school was failing hard. JCSD was all “hell naw” they wanted no part of it.

Thanks for clarifying. It may happen in many counties but it will never be statewide. Too many pockets being lined in those City Districts to give it up to one centralized distict

Yes. One district for the entire county. If desoto county can do it, all counties can do it
