West Lowndes and Noxapater gave us a grand opening game last week. With the exception of West Lowndes 1-0 and Noxapater 0-1 in the district, everybody else is 0-0 and have a fresh start. Hopefully all the teams has gotten their rust, wrinkles and kinks out of the system now. The road to the region crown and playoffs officially begin. Games: Bay Springs at Richton Coffeeville at McEvans Enterprise-Lincoln at Taylorsville Ethel at Leake County H.W. The most competitive region for playoffs spots this year seems to be region 3. West Lowndes, Noxapater, Sebastopol, Vardaman, and Hamilton are all looking pretty even to take that region crown. Every other region seems to have a region’s favorite followed by others who should compete for the rest of the spots. Some big key matchups between competing playoffs teams to me for this week includes HW Byers-Okolona matchup, South Delta-Simmons matchup, West Bolivar-West Tallahatchie matchup, West Lowndes-Sebastopol matchup, Vardaman-Noxapater matchup, and Resurrection-Lumberton matchup. I think this year Vardaman, Hamilton, Ethel and West Bolivar are much more improved and under the radar than compared to last year and will shock some folks based on district games only being left now. As far as the north, I feel like region 2 will dominate region 1 outside of whomever draws Biggersville. Whoever gets Biggersville in the north will have to be scoring a good amount of points and play steel curtain defense. i still think region 4 will be the more dominant south region but I feel like region 3 will close the gap some to make some more competitive games. They will lay down if you hit them and they talk unbelievable amounts of crap, both of which may get them in a close hard hitting game. Up north I'm let Simmons and Mcevans, Biggerville get that take care of. I can only speak for Bay Springs Region 4 is pretty much Bay Springs domain. I think by the time playoff start or after it start region 3 will realize. You can't play a bunch of sub par 2A and private school.
