I can remember not to long ago WC/OG week would dominate this board

I get WC made the wrong hire when Coach Mangum left and it really hurt the program. But I think they have a good coach now and he’s in year two of building the program back up. Last week against a really good Quitman team and a longtime rivalry game WC had multiple penalties and still managed to put up 35 points and get the win. However OG is not Quitman, so WC will have to be at the top of their game or it could get ugly. That being said if OG plays like last week they will be upset.

I thought eye test wise we would beat the hell out of HC last week and then pretty quick it was evident we hadn’t played against anyone other than ourselves since the day after thanksgiving (no spring game , jamboree, not even a 7 on 7 if I had to guess). I think we’ll play better this week and you’re right if we don’t WC has the talent to win.

Wow really I wasn’t aware you guys didn’t have spring game, no 7 on 7 or Jamboree.  All those things are huge to the development of your team. I’m in no way making lite of OG because they are always very talented. Sometimes you just need to hit someone else and get use to the speed of the game.

Not taking anything from Greenville Christian last year because they were really good but in my mind because of not doing these things and coming into that game only playing Seminary and a not so good Hattiesburg team we were not ready for that battle. If we played them later in the year I think it would have been a different outcome.

OG was without a couple good players last week that impacted the game. Aborom was out which is one of the best on both sides of the ball.  Don’t know if that was due to injury or discipline. We will see.

What I do know is if the OG offense doesn’t improve we are not a great team. Our play calling was terrible. I really don’t understand that regardless of the fact that these early games are not regional games.

We will learn more on Friday night!

I see where some are calling for the upset in this game but I just don't see it. Oak Grove defense will dwarf our offensive line, For all the flash and pop nowdays that is still where this game is won or lost at. You see when the game was on the line Oak Grove just lined up and ran the QB keeper and pushed HC out of the way for the win

There is no doubt that WC will have their hands full Friday night. Will there be an upset I don’t think so. Too much talent on the field for OG. Looks like the rain will not be a factor and playing on the nice turf field at WC will be a lot better.  If WC can keep the game to within 2 TDs then in my mind a good one for WC and more unanswered questions for OG.

Wayne County. I know very little about your team. Who are the key players on both sides of the ball.  Are y’all running the wing T as I have read or a lot of different formations. One thing I do know is I am not arguing with any of your fans in the stand! 😂😂😂

I plan on making the drive…

WC is still a young team also still a team in transition. This is the second year for a pretty much revamped coaching staff not just one or two coaches. The kids are buying in really well we still have kids walking the halls that we need playing. We will be a multiple formation team on offense I think Slick calls it the Low T lol. I’m being honest when I say you really can’t focus on one player, we don’t have that jump of the page kid that’s just going to make you say wow! We are led at QB by the head coach’s son and he’s clearly the leader on the field.

Newspaper man didn’t like me calling it low t so I came up with a new term for it that kind of personalizes it for us.

It is now the Wayng T.

Love you guys over there in Waynesboro… y’all know I do. But I hope we thoroughly smack y’all into next week.

I feel the same way Dub. I hope we keep this going. OG always plays the game with respect and class and I appreciate it.I think Meridian is trying to squeeze in and take this big school slot on our schedule.

I have always looked at this game as like playing horseshoes or cornhole at a family gathering. You want to win but you get up the next day and go back to work

I can’t take anything away from our players. They gave it their all. Back to back fumble in own territory doomed us. Neither player had played against that level of competition before. I’m not afraid of anyone in our region. It was a great game , maybe we will get another shot next season.

This game was so nerve wracking I couldn’t tell the score of any other games that went on tonight. It was that level of competition from the first play.

#1 for OG is unreal. We won’t see that level of skill players from anyone in 5A this season.

Y’all definitely are the real deal Slick. I was impressed. Outplayed us for the majority of the game and quit frankly out coached us. The ball just sorta started to bounce our way outta nowhere in the 4th.

You guys are loaded with athletes and the ball did bounce y’all’s way down the stretch. Our kids were fighting for extra yards. It looked like a complete mismatch in warmups lol. But you can’t measure heart and coaching. I don’t think we face another team anywhere close to as talented as OG. Congratulations and we don’t do moral victories but I’m proud of our kids and we’re going to make some noise.

The issue for us is with all of those athletes I don’t think we’ve figured out our full time personnel on defense. If that makes sense. Plus our QB play has been abysmal for about 6 quarters now. Last time we played a game this close with you guys y’all went on to beat DK Metcalf and Oxford for the state title. Definitely won’t surprise me if you guys end up in Hattiesburg in December at all.

I thought that was a missed call I thought 23 laid out to get in front of him. Now granted I was a long ways away and filming the game. But I thought that WC got it back in the second half when they called the OG runner down then the next play they hit a long pass on what I thought was the only busted coverage of the night. Dub who is #1 for you guys and what grade is he in?

JQ Gray. He’s a senior and committed to Southern Miss.

USM has a good player coming in. The thing I was impressed with is how hard your receivers were to get on the ground lol. Those kids for for every inch they could possibly get.
I know you guys aren’t happy with the start. But you can learn a lot from your guys in these games. You know you’re never out of one because there’s no quit in the players. I feel like there were two good teams on the field tonight. One still going through a transition but a lot closer than people think

Late night and a game that seemed to last forever. Great game to watch in a weird way as Tib said.   I almost packed my bags and left at least 5 times. Glad I didn’t.

WC has a solid club and played really hard. Excellent coaching! Toughest game in that series in quite awhile.

We really need our top player Aborom back. With he and Slay out both games in the secondary it has been a s^ht$how at best back there. Obviously without Aborom at WR we have been limited.

AJ is struggling at QB in the passing game from a consistency standpoint but in all fairness this was only his second start for OG.  When he hits the mark the receivers are not catching the ball on the long plays. He will get better with experience.

We are a long way from beating the Brandons and Madison Centrals right now!
