s1nglewing
First off kudos to Benton for sticking with 11 man football. There are SEVERAL 8 man teams that have more enrollment than Benton that have chosen the easier path. Won't name specific schools but there are more than a handful that could and should be playing 11. Shame on their leadership.

FBdude
8Man football and the fear of playing Greenville Chr and Greenville St Joe before them has killed the smaller 11man classification of the MAIS. What used to be Class A up until 2014 (expanded to four 11man classifications in 2015) had some quality football programs, especially when you consider how small the schools were. Schools like Heidelberg Aca and Trinity (tradition powers) who fielded some really good teams, are now closed. Newton Aca was the last true class A champs and are now 8man. Private schools in the larger ares are growing but they a dying in the rural areas. The top teams in the MAIS are as good as ever but the level of play at and competitiveness at the lowest 11man classification (now AAA smh) is as bad as ever.
