Just an Ocean Springs fan coming in to wrap up the discussion. You’re all mostly right that this was a great game in which Oak Grove showed their experience and coaching, but overall, two evenly matched teams. Sure, losing hurts, as it should, but we’ll take the lesson and be back next time. All of the statements that we couldn’t play with the big boys were proven wrong, and I’m proud of the effort. Our coaches learned too. I wasn’t at the game, but on a flight, and haven’t seen the tape, but O.G. was just too physical, in spite of their reputation.

The refs might have missed a call or two, or maybe been too aggressive, but that didn’t cost us a thing. Maybe the only thing I’ve got to get us3d to in these “big boy” football is the end of game disrespect with the dancing on the logo and throwing signs. I know they’re kids, so I’ll get over it. I’m kind of disappointed that my own coach didn’t show for the post game interview that he loves so much when he wins.

in short, congratulations, and best of luck to the Warriors. See ya next year!

Nobody was disrespectful at the end of the game. Find something else to gripe about because that’s not even how OG carries it. Hands were shook at midfield and the team had the usual post game huddle.

We talking PG-13 language or R rated? Also why has OS not posted the livestream in their archives yet? I would like to watch it.

It’ll probably be a while before they bother to post it. You can catch the on demand on our site right now.

Great game by both teams! The more experienced team won for sure.  When a defense plays no safety and man-to-man all night they are daring you to go deep and loading the box against the run. First half was exciting but 2nd half the better adjustments and/or most athletic overall team prevailed. OS decided after a couple, almost int's because of blanket coverage, that they couldn't beat the OG db's deep and I'm sure they were correct.  Bogus holding call highlighted on the WXXV local news station called back an OS td. That could've made a difference by allowing OS to take a two TD lead into the half but other factors such as 3 turnovers for no points and not being able to get 1yd deep in OG territory in the 4th quarter were the more determining factors in my opinion. Both teams played a tough game all night and it was exciting to watch in person.

OS returns a strong junior class next season so they should be able to use this as a learning experience.

Great season for the Hounds and good luck to OG the rest of the way.

right. some people want to censor everybody about everything, huh?

i say cut them some slack. people ought to be able to talk. on the radio it's got to be reasonably clean. What he said is.

Like most local broadcast crews, these two have personal connections with their own teams and coaching staff, and have been involved in promoting their host schools all year. They have emotions just like we all do, and at seasons end, can let those emotions get the best of em. I wouldn’t have it any other way.

They were also disappointed like the rest of us that no members of the coaching staff came out for a comment after the game. It would have been a great chance to praise the departing seniors and give everyone else a shot of hope for the upcoming season. I’m not saying that I would have been able to swallow my disappointment either, but it would have been classy to give credit to O.G. as well. We all make our little mistakes. Above, I gave grief to the Warrior players for dancing on the logo, and may have listened to the wrong description. Sorry bout that.

Good post, David. 1) I think we all prefer the broadcast crews that are emotionally invested in the team. it makes the broadcast more exciting. 2) The coaches don't need me taking up for them. But in certain situations they might feel their team needs them right now. If the team is emotional. I can see maybe they want to be with the team and make sure they understand they are loved for all their extreme effort and hard work and that what they have accomplished is amazing and should not be lost in the disappointment of a season-ending loss. For better or worse...the broadcast is not always first and foremost in a coaches mind. again I am not saying that is what did happen here, but it does happen. Coaches and players performed admirably this year. hang on to that.

Thanks, buddy. There’s a  lot of fans sitting at home right now like me, with a lot more heading that way the next two weeks. Most of us will get over it, and realize that our teams had pretty good years. That includes the coaches. They get disappointed too. Maybe skip the last interview out of emotions. I shouldn’t blame em for that. Ocean Springs is looking forward to next year. Should be fun.

Eh I’m not most of them myself good years or not. A long lost season I could get over but a season with potential it takes me awhile to get over. Bitter taste for the next year.

the disappointment of certain losses may never go away entirely.

heck, i still feel disappointment over our loss to pascagoula that knocked us out in 2012 in the 2nd round. we were coming off the  2011 state championship. The nucleus of that team still intact, and riding an 18 game win streak. Probably the best team we ever had here. Then we let a team we had already beat at their house 49-10 in a televised game knock us out. And the final game was never in doubt. we did not show up. That was 9 years ago smh.
