This new power point system that the MAIS is using is a flat joke

You have teams losing on purpose to drop into the division II bracket to keep from playing the top four schools. Then you have a one win team getting throttled on their home field last night and move up in the points. Man this is screwed up. First off why are you giving out two state championships in the same class? Oh never mind it all about the $$$$$$$

Not sure how true it is but I’ve seen alot of Washington parents today saying that Marshall Academy set out all their starters last night so they would be in the Division II bracket to avoid Tri County. The playoff system that is setup is def a joke.

That's a pretty sleazy thing to do, if true. What kind of "coach" with any semblance of credibility,  not to mention personal honor, would do such a absolutely cowardly thing?

The MAIS will never do it but they should make them set out the playoffs or at very least play the players that were dressed against Washington during the playoffs.

MAIS PowerPoint system is completely flawed. In the playoffs, district standing meant something and the PPs were secondary seeding. Now it’s PPs only. The previous Head of the MAIS and current Director of Athletics pushed this crap through. There were meetings over the last 2 weeks that has passed a new realignment to reduce the number of state championships.

I was told Thursday night by a Hartfield parent that Hartfield will be seeded 2nd and Prep 3rd based on points after Prep throttled Hartfield.  He said their going back to the old system in 2026. They simply attempted to please the Jackson area schools after PCS left.

More than 1 in 4A, then 1 each in 3A to 1A. Something like 11 state championships in 4 classes. They might as well merge with MHSAA.  Then easily 8 classes and minimum 6 schools per region.

All they had to do was move 1 school up in each class.

MHSAA should kick out all the MAIS schools and go back to 6 classes. Done & done. MAIS schools have NO business crossing over to play in MHSAA unless they can provide legal documentation on every single athlete showing no scholarship was provided to the athlete/family for school attendance. (Which is impossible)

The thing about the MAIS school picking up MHSAA schools to fill out their schedule is under this new system you get no power points. Most of the time it’s better competition for your smaller class MAIS schools. Now the Larger Schools up around Jackson are very competitive in both MAIS and MHSAA.

Which is another dumb flaw in the PowerPoint crap. However, let’s use East Rankin for example, they received no points for beating MHSAA schools BUT their MAIS opponents reaped the benefits because they received points for those Wins.

I’ve been in both systems both have their flaws not here to debate that. I spent much more time in public school but I have a grandson in private school now and I can assure you my daughter is busting her tail to pay and send him. I started this thread to address the problem with the power points for the playoff system. The things that go on at private schools is not new neither are the things that happen at public. The way to fix it is to have schools who choose to be private be MAIS.

Public schools can’t just choose to jump ship from MHSAA into MAIS on a whim. The same should be true in reverse. If you choose a private school for your kids, that’s your choice. But private school athletics (MAIS) should go along with it. Scholarshiped athletes shouldn’t be competing in the same division as non-scholarships athletes. And the power points thing is a symptom of a larger issue = the rules in MAIS. At the VERY least, if MHSAA is bound and determined to allow private schools with scholarshiped athletes to compete alongside MHSAA non-scholarshiped athletes, those MAIS should have to play up a class…or 2… to compensate for the scholarships.

MHSAA tried to let play up but it got voted down by the council. Schools like St Stanislaus and OLA have a factor figured in because of being a parochial school. The rest have a 20 mile radius imposed upon them. They can't have kids living outside the radius to attend school.
