Simmons struggled with Port Gibson plus they have one of the weakest schedules in 1A

People say that about their schedule every year but every year they’re making a deep playoff run. I remember last year they were suppose to lose to Lumberton and Velma Jackson because they hadn’t been tested in the regular season.

Biggersville might  be the only 1A team with the size speed and athletes to challenge Calhoun City.

Biggersville is good don’t get me wrong, but losing to East Webster 54-14 makes me think they are not on the same level Calhoun City is on. Yes, EW is one of the best teams in 2A north, but Calhoun City would be too and I believe those two teams are evenly matched similar to last season. Biggersville’s win over Baldwyn is impressive, and they are probably the 2nd best team in 1A right now, but it’s gonna be very hard to for anyone in 1A to beat Calhoun City.

I agree with this. They had 2 extremely good backs last year that both graduated along with several more seniors which will hurt, but they always seem to find a way to reload. I think Taylorsville has a good enough defense to compete with them and make it a low scoring game, but until further notice, they are still probably the top team in 1A sourh.

Calhoun City this year is basically a top five 4A North team playing in 1A. Their only loss came against a very good Senatobia team that they were close to beating on the road . Anything could happen in the playoffs but I’d have CC a 2 TD favorite over Biggersville. Especially if Biggersville has to travel to The Boneyard.

One thing about Simmons is that pantry is going to stay stocked with athletes year in year out to replace the ones before. Moving to 1A years ago was the best move ever for them and it’s shown.
