What team would not like that? Would you not like to go thru a season where you just put a whooping on everyone and coasted thru the season instead of having to play some nailbiters and nervously watch a game? LOL. I will take winning all my games 42-7 any day.

Had some nervous nail nailbiters in the playoffs that I don't care to see this upcoming season. I also think this team better than last season offensively

I mean personally I’m glad we don’t have that situation I like seeing us play stiff competition most weeks. That’s just me though. It’s no fault of West Points they can only play what’s in front of them. Just calling it what it is.

It was originally rotated. But ole miss and state officials complained about it being there every year they hosted it.  Then after it went to 2 years at Usm, then Jackson (Covid) then 2 more at Usm, and the crowd sizes got larger on average, they warmed back up to it.

This is the last 3 decades:

2003-2013 - Veterans in Jackson

2014 - State

2015 - Ole Miss
2016 - State

2017 - Ole Miss

2018 - USM

2019 - USM

2020 - Veterans in Jackson (was supposed to be at State)

2021 - USM

2022 - USM

2023 - Ole Miss

2024 - USM

2025 - State

Should be in Oxford this year opposite the Egg Bowl. If for some reason one of them are playing at home in Round one or play in game that weekend game it will have to be moved. Starkville well I don't think they have to worry right because of rebuilding mode.

The Duffs just funded a huge a new building on campus at State. Will be open this fall.

They also have a building at OM.   They have had one on USM campus for several years.  Thomas Duff is a USM grad.  The Southern Miss NIL is at least the 2nd highest in the Sunbelt.  Kentucky just ran at a 31m dollar loss even with the SEC welfare. I am going to say Miss State is probably going to be in the same boat soon.

As of the most recent season, Southern Miss football did not offer freshmen NIL. At all. Because they couldn’t afford it. So USM can’t have THAT much funding & will never even be close to an SEC team so the comparison to State is off. Now State is at the bottom of the SEC. But even the worst SEC team will massively trump USM in terms of NIL and coaching salaries. Look at baseball. BOC at State just signed a contract worth 2.9M+ while Oz at USM is more like 300k. They are not the same.

The weekend of MHSAA Football Championship games is the same weekend of the SEC championship in Atlanta. Dec 6 wekeend.

MHSAA announced this week that championship games are at State, Dec 4-6.

Egg Bowl in Starkville is Saturday, Nov 29.

No conflict.
