Who do you all think are the top coaches in the state right now? I'm generally more knowledgeable on the south end of the state, so I'm going to give a few names from the south: Scott Pierson Drew Causey Jay Beech Cody Stogner (He inherited greatness, but he's done well continuing it) Blake Pennock Sam Williams

Your predicitons are wildly unrealistic brother.
-
Close game. Defensive battle most likely. Think Stone could really shock everyone this year. They have the team to do so. #7 can take over a game.
-
When I see people post things like "We need better playcalling", I pretty much discredit anything that person says moving forward. You aint questioned anything Cody Stogner has done up till this point, but you go 1 game against a DANG good team without scoring 40 points and now lets just act like the playcalling was a problem? Man you aint got not a lick of a clue as to what his rhyme, reason, or method was to what he called. Just enjoy the game, be a fan, and enjoy winning. I can't wait for Picayune to win a playoff game 17-10 and then see the fans calling for Cody's head on here! Y'all are ridiculous.

I would have to agree with the run defense being an issue. Gautier defense allowed almost 500 rushing yards to West Harrison. Allowed a ton to Vancleave as well. I believe it's going to be a score fest!
-
They do. They would have to beat Vancleave, Pearl River Central, and Long Beach all three to have a chance. Then they have to beat one of the big 3. Their best matchup is East Central or Gautier. Picayune just isn't a good matchup for anybody.
-
Well I'll tell you this, your information is wrong on the defensive line. George County has phenomenal Defensive lineman. #99 for George County could very well be an SEC athlete and he's only a sophomore. Also, #97 and #95 are GIANT. George had an unfortunate loss to greene county, but other than that they've only lost to very good football teams. They're much better than the 0 for record that they hold right now. If the kids don't flat out give up on Coach Ray, I see them beating Vancleave.

@maroontide06 I'm assuming based on the name that you're an avid Picayune follower, and I'm curious as to how you feel about Picayune potentially staying in 5a and not moving up with the current region into 6a? Would be slim picking for great competition in region play at that point.
-
I believe that the most interesting potential move here is the downward movement of Picayune and Laurel into what will be the new 5a classification. New enrollment numbers may be larger, but if this happens it would be a huge shake up in the competition for 1st place in the coast 6A district next year.

I thought it was extremely strange as well. I looked into it a bit before I said it, because I was about to say that George is winless, but then saw that game listed. I believe you're correct though more than likely.
-
Well, judging by what you're saying here you should also be saying that you're unimpressed by east central. The win against biloxi might end up being an okay win, but they played moss point who looks awful and south pike who has athletes but allowed 35 points to long beach. What's the difference? Vancleave has beaten teams that they're supposed to beat convincingly and has a really good win over Hancock. I think they're a very tough team and are sound schematically. Fant has done well. Now if you want to talk about teams that the jury is out on, let's talk about George County. They took a loss to Greene County, who Vancleave beat the brakes off of. Got their faces stomped in by ocean springs and lost a close one to Gulfport in game 1. They also apparently polayed Citronelle out of AL, who is currently listed as being 0-6. So what's your indication that George is any sorts of good? Picayune is the top dog. After them though, the entire district is wide open. The only teams that I'm going to say aren't in contention are PRC and Long Beach. Everybody else will be in a dog fight for spots 2-4 and it will probably come down to the wire for spot #4 between whichever two teams that may be.
-
The Jefferson Davis County Vs. Columbia game should be really interesting! Jeff Davis has played with and beat some very stout competition this pre-district.
-
Interesting. What makes you so certain that 3-0 west harrison is so much worse than 3-0 east central? And what makes 1-3 George County an automatic loss for west?
-
What makes you draw that conclusion out of curiosity? Seems like a matchup of 3-0 teams could go either way. Oak Grove vs Warren Central will be a great one for sure. Hancock and OS will most likely be a one-sided game, but it wouldn't surprise me if Hancock plays them closer than you think.

This one has been quiet since Cain stepped out. Probably because D'iberville is in the same school district and they needed to finish the hiring process for their head job first. Has anybody heard anything? I've only heard one name so far, the OC from Ocean Springs.
-
2015 Pearl River Central Blue Devils Staff: Head Coach - Eric Collins DC - John Feaster (HC now) OC - Quincy Patrick (HC now) Asst - Seth Hayden (DC now) Asst - Chris Penton (Retired as a DC) Asst - Brandon McGill (Retired as a DC) Very good staff full of current head coaches, and future head coaches.
-
That's exactly what I've heard, and what I know of the situation. Ladner would be the community favorite, has rapport with the kids, and is a highly motivated guy. Even though he's young and doesn't have the most experience at this point, he would be a good choice. Reason being that it would keep the community happy, morale high, and you never know what he could do with it if he got it. I mean, he is known as one of the best Head Powerlifting Coaches in the state. Maybe that transfers over!
-
Huge opening on the coast. Anybody hearing candidates for this job?
-
Not sure what could have happened there, but definitely an interesting opening.
-
Again, unless you're going to bust the door down and just outright say what you're claiming are problems.... don't stir the pot. You're obviously an East Central fan, and should be excited that your team has gone to the playoffs 2 years in a row and has had a great district record in one of the hardest districts in the state. Good to know that I have "No idea", thanks for informing me chief.
-
There are no real problems at East Central. These are Parent-Fueled complaints made by people who are upset that the SCHOOL DISTRICT DECIDED Eric Collins was the best candidate for the job. I previously saw in this conversation where someone said that Eric Collins wasn't well liked at PRC... That couldn't be more wrong honestly. The only people who didn't like Eric Collins at PRC are the same kind of people who will ALWAYS hate on head football coaches for saying "Your child simply isn't good enough to play". Don't sit here and stir up drama about something you have no clue about. If you're going to stir the pot, at least have some sort of basis for your ignorant statements. Good Head Coaches will NEVER allow a kid, or their parent to believe that they are above the team and its well-being. Those kids and parents will be removed, and culture of selflessness will be established. Sadly, this forum is full of a bunch of those parents. That's why rumors like this spread so violently. I'm just sick of seeing good people have their name slandered by a bunch of people on a forum that have absolutely no ides what they're talking about.
