The new Supt. hasn't even started yet. That call would have to come from her I would think. Unless it's supposed to be statewide. I could see Hathorne trying to do it if he hung around but he's toast. That would have been a dream job for the lazy Hankins.

No they didn't . Covid saved them really . It dam sure made them scared to death of it though. This separation of the BOE and district authority , a principal shouldn't have any interaction with the BOE in any capacity ?

If I was told I could have any coach in 5A but to decide now I would go Kevin Fant . The reason is really simple for me. He can make adjustments on offense with his formations. Now he's adjusting an allen screw with a phillips screwdriver but he knows what he is seeing and has planned for it. #2 would be the South Jones coach because he looks like he can coach a QB up. You put the rest at #3 as a group .Maybe the Sumrall coach but I really don't know about him. I wasn't impressed by the Brookhaven coach in the few times I seen them last season. They did the same script the last four games almost down to the same play with the same time on the clock. A good coach would have picked up on that and burnt them into backing off but no one did. This whole class is just begging for someone with some pop to come in and put their foot on it's neck

I guess the ambiguity didn't get the point across. The district office and by default the MDOE has stonewalled the board lately. They ascribe that the BOE is not to be involved in the day to day operations of the schools. The District office is not supposed to be involvef in board decisions .The madam president of the BOE is a friend of the district office away from the meetings. Or Tater wants someone else they can scare holding the supt position

This lady that is board president is a snake, She's planted there by the State dept of Education to do their bidding and feed them info. Tell us if anyone connected to Al Smith is a candidate for the office,

I do mean it as a joke but it highlights the type of person that WC needs right now. This whole search showed the district office is the sole decision maker for everything that goes on at the schools. With a new principal and new football coach we need a calming hand that will bring everyone together while new principal gets his feet on the ground. Lewis is a good guy and I think he would be an asset to any school district. He may not want to do anything and just stay retired

It wasn't even two weeks before Hankins fake resigned we were discussing how incompetent the district office was and lo and behold they exceeded our wildest expectations. I will say what I said then. Sims would never be boring or sneaky and however quirky his ideas half of them would work. Whereas then as is now all the current admin. rides around in a clown car,. Hell Sims might would buy a real clown car as a drivers ed vehicle.

He's put himself in a position to fill those positions now so why not ? I've said it before the best and brightest have to leave Wayne County because once they educate themselves there's nothing there that utilizes their training. If they have a position that comes open in administration it should be be filled by competent people from there. We just had eight years of castoffs ftom Jones County and look at what they have did to the district off ice.The dam thing is in shambles. They couldn't even turn in a coach's name to be voted on without making it a circus. It's time to tell the DOE not to send any more of their bounced around flameouts here. Every decision they make is how it relates to their retirement and it;s like pulling teeth to get rid of them

I guess I never really put a welcome out to Pound . I was too busy dancing over the carcass of Bubba Hathorne whic h I have to admit it's mighty good. Nobody loves WC more than Tracey. There was most certainly those who had better resumes but as far as deserving the chance to be the next head coach it was Pound or Kat who has his eye set on bigger things than HC of football, proud for you Kat . With that said there is a lot of doubt surrounding Lampley but that has always been lurking around him. People telling him couldn't do something fuels him like nothing else. So don't be surprised when he knocks it out of the park. It's his show now and one could say what's going to be different than his last staff positions . Tracey has always been about leadership and being a team player, It will be interesting to see how he approaches being out front now. The one thing I can say about him on that field is when called upon he was always right there and he never, ever missed the mark . He wanted the ball in his hands when it was all on the line. There's no need in going through the results most everyone knows them. So here is where I stand on it. Tracy is my man at WC now. I'm going to roll with him and let the chips fall where they may. The ball is in his hands again now just in a different way. Welcome back Pound. It's been way too long.

He's through. He got a major beatdown behind the scenes at the end of last week. He threw a tantrum in the beginning but quickly changed attitude when he got told what was about to happen to him. I think we have heard the last of him. There are other fish to fry now

That level ? It took Mangum about three years to paint his so I would say at least that if he can even adapt to being a HC. Like some have said there are question marks with pound, 5A in the south is not a gauntlet so he has room to learn as he goes and still be competitive by the seasons end. Things aren't like they used to be where the pressure was on to get good by the fourth game of the season. He's going to have to grind his way through it in the beginning . WC has some great looking football players that are getting ready to come to the varsity level Winning culture- gone, nuked by Hathorne. Kids don't expect to win He's taking over a team built by a glorified wrestling coach. The whole system will have to be taken apart down to the studs and started over At least until May Hathorne will get in his way on every aspect of improvement. So he really won't be able to do much until fall. Hiring a competent set of assistants and not being saddled with any of the guys there now. I don't think people realize how much Bubba gutted the number and quality of assistants. He cut at least one every season. There are some in this administration and board that already resent him being here. By hook or crook they planned on putting Reynolds in even if it took until summer. He will have to keep his chin up and stay motivated until they can be rooted out. The backslapping and glad handing will wear off in about a month. He will be left looking up at this huge mountain he must climb , I wish I could be there and welcome him in the morning. Someone needs to.

Bravo!!!! that's a great accomplishment by the young man. He could probably use some good news about now. They need to get with his mother on the schedule times for all the events though he starts getting homesick close to dark.

Bubba passed over Mitch for Todd Lowery and Jack Hankins, He didn't want Mitch this time any more than then. No matter what he lied to Mitch about. The asst supt selected him along with the sham committee. The BOE only voted on a salary. They couldn't approve anyone until a salary was agreed upon. They didn't have any agreement . Mitch pulled his name the next day. This is the third coaching hire for Hathorne and every one was some version of this one. Mitch would have been an awesome hire five years ago. He would have been good this time too. There is only one failure and blame falls on the asst supt, She could fix this in ten minutes Hathorne only answers too her She is the problem. Her nor Bubba doesn't need to be near the Supt job and filling the position needs to get done next. , Someone from the outside and no ties to anything local

Hathorne is running all over this poor lady now, There is a reason we don't have a coach yet and it's not about the BOE. Remember Hathorne answers only to the asst supt now

Marcus had been gone close to ten years when Bubba made principal . Marcus fired him and told him Mangum was coming to be the DC, He didn't want to give up his keys Todd Brelad took them away from him, made him get his stuff and threw it in his car then watched him go. . Hathorne ran straight to Ben Graves and Graves told him if Marcus says you are out then you are terminated. He was a sorry coach on the street again. He deserves worse with the predicament he has put us in.

I would be interested to know how Bubba was the one that tried to hire him. Did Bubba call Mitch and tell him this ?

I am not going to pump sunshine and say it's a machine right now, The person responsible for it doesn't have the control he's had for the last , what seven, years. He did a lot of damage and ran the whole operation in the deep mud. We are out of the mud and headed back up the hill to dry ground and for the first time in a long time I feel hopeful. Some the assistant stuff is already taken care of I thnk.

I don't want to say . The people that made it happen deserve that honor. They had to resort to strong arming some people but it' s necessary when the other side is playing dirty behind the scenes. Now go home BUbba and take Al Smith with you. This was about old vs new not race. It should be out soon
