I think Vicksburg will represent the north in SC game. vicksburg’s D will not allow WP to score enough to stay ahead.
-
I can take a loss like that a hell of a lot easier than the one last year when it felt like the officials stole it from us

West Point 34-33. NC went for 2 point conversion to try to take the lead. Heck of a game.

Neshoba @ West Point: Rematch of Last Year’s 5A North Half Championship I know WP has been penciled in to play Vicksburg next week for the North Half Championship. Neshoba should not just be written off. NC had the best defense it has ever fielded last season but lost a lot of seniors. It took a while for the defense to gel, but they are playing pretty dang good football right now. Their only district loss was to Vicksburg and it was only 6-0 with a little over a minute left in the game. The offense has had to replace the QB and 3 receivers that have been playing on Saturdays so both sides of the ball has had a lot of changes since last year. The coaching staff at NC has done a great job over the last few years of adjusting to the players/talent that they have. Arguably one of the best staffs in the state. NC has not played a game against any one this season where the other team didn’t have a more athletic team, or where the D line did not dwarf NC’s O-line. (You want find more fight in any line I’ve seen). Flashback to last year’s game. One of several plays could have changed the outcome and sent NC to play Picayune in the SC. 1. WP scored on a play where runner was down, no whistle but defense stopped because he was clearly down. (Photos show that it would have been overturned on Saturdays) 2. NC immediately drives down the field and scores on a QB run with a questionable hold called on the WR. 3. NC missed FG that could have changed momentum and later change to where they needed a field goal to tie. 4. Blown coverage on TE on WP last TD. There were clock issue questions at the end of the game that may have also cost NC a play, but NC had also used a couple of timeouts for alignment issues that they probably would have loved to have had back. I know that WP is favored by most everybody to win this game, but with “decent” officiating, I think NC has a chance to win, but will at least give them a hell of a game.

West Point is obviously the team to beat in the north, but after tonight it doesn’t appear they were in the toughest region in the north

Yes they clinched 1st. They have a strong D with very good size. They very well could make a run at it. Neshoba and Callaway play Friday for 2nd place -

6. Vicksburg - People I have spoken with said this is a team that can make it out of the North. I haven’t seen them but they have been stacking the Ws. This is the time of year title contenders turn it on. **************Hosts Neshoba Central. Marquee Primo matchup here. The Gators have a heavyweight coming this Friday. For both teams , these are the kind of games that gives the momentum and confidence to finish the job in a few weeks. If we weren’t in a dogfight this Friday I would probably make the drive up I55 . Then cut through on backroads at Hazelhurst and work my way up to Vburg. I know several old timers up in those woods. Slick you missed a hard fought football game. It was 6-0 until less than 2 minutes left in the game. -

Anthony Hopson #99 Fr. DL from Neshoba Central will be one to watch as he matures. Listed at 6'2" and 310 lbs. Had 50 tackles, 7 TFL, 3.5 sacks, 6 hurries. 12 of the 50 came against West Point in the North Half Championship game.

WP51 did you see a close up shot of the play against Lake Cormorant? There was a guy right at end zone with a TV camera. I was keeping stats and was within 25-30 feet of the play. 8 fumbled around 3 yd line. Ball bounced inside pylon into end zone #1 grabbed ball with both feet in bounds and pulled it to chest as he was falling out of bounds. 2 officials right on top of play got together before making TD call. I never saw that camera shot and don’t know what TV station he was with. I would like to see it.

I agree that it wasn’t WP fault. Actually wasn’t most of the officials on the crew’s fault. It was the one that ran up marked spot with foot and raised arm but didn’t blow whistle and didn’t have guts enough to own it.
-
I’ve always been of the theory that you have to play good enough to overcome the couple of questionable calls that are always there. We put up a good fight but were playing a great team. We had a great year. Good luck to West Point next week.

Yeah. Y’all would have been biting about the second knuckle if your 1st TD had been reviewable. Halftime score should have been 0-0

No need for NC to trash talk in softball either. Our trophy case looks like WP's football trophy case without the West Jones interruption.
-
I guess I'm the only other NC poster on here. I'm not going to trash talk. I know that both teams are deserving to be where they are and that any previous game played does not matter when kickoff comes around tonight. I know that if we start out like we did against Lake Cormorant, the results will be really ugly. If we play the game we are capable of playing, it will be a very good game. See y'all tonight.

A lot of road rage incidents on Nashville interstates lately also. My future daughter-in-law was knocked in the head in her apartment parking garage in Nashville. Stole her purse and car. Car found the next day riddled with bullet holes. Ironically for this thread she is from Hattiesburg. Note: If you choose Vandy your son may need some NIL money. My son lives there and nothing is cheap. We went to Vandy/State game last weekend and checked on tickets to the NFL game. Decided not to invest that much to see a game that I couldn't care less about who won. Vandy should give free tickets to get fans in the stadium. There is so much to do in Nashville that the Vandy games get lost in the shuffle.

Peewee it looks like the Rockets may wind up undefeated. First time since our sophomore year when we were 9-0-1.
-
Both teams come into Friday with a 6-0 record in the district. Vicksburg has not been challenged in the district and Neshoba's only challenge was Ridgeland. Both teams score a lot of points and allow few. Could be a knock down drag out.

New rule change on blocking below the waist. The new requirement (2-17-2c) is that the block must be an immediate, initial action following the snap. Under the current rule, an offensive lineman can delay and then block below the waist if the ball is still in the zone. In the committee’s ongoing quest to minimize risk in high school football, the change was approved to require the block to be immediate. “This change makes it easier for game officials to judge the legality of blocks below the waist and minimizes risk of injury for participants,” said Bob Colgate, NFHS director of sports and sports medicine and liaison to the Football Rules Committee. “This change lets game officials observe the block and make a call without having to determine where the ball is and what formation the offense lined up in.”
-
Did the d lineman cut a blocker outside the box? If so may have been the right call.

No team ever wins easily at West Lauderdale. It seems the officials make sure of that. Haha
