  1. And, if the second seeded teams should make it to south state (d’Iberville and OG) region 3 also has home field. It’s the second round where I don’t like the setup, as a lower seed who hasn’t had a home game gets the advantage, even over the higher seed. I can imagine that O.S. and Brandon would give up first game at home to guarantee the tougher second game was at home. State association is just trying to give everybody a chance to host, I guess.
  2. We were totally surprised at the undisciplined play by the Warriors in that O.S. game, but they seem to have corrected those things. It looks like they will play Pearl, which is another interesting team, having lost early on to Gulfport, but improving as the year progressed. I can easily see d’Iberville winning that first round game, but then who plays whom if O.S. was to win also?
  3. I will say that d’Iberville is a good team, while being one dimensional as a running offense. They beat the best 5A school in the south, and didn’t really have any close games with H’central or Gulfport. Pearl lost to the G’port team that d’Iberville beat handily. I realize the history of this region in the playoffs, but would say that the Warriors just might give the #3 team a good game.
  4. d’Iberville is a good team that has beat Picayune, and hasn’t lost all year other than the beat down that O.S. put on them in their house. I’ve said all along that we don’t need the rankings and would rather stay unknown until we get a chance to play in the playoffs. But, if you’re going to dog us and demand that we prove we belong, I can talk football, coaching, and really talented players. Scoring at will and improving defense are good things to bring up without bragging. All we can do is beat everybody on the schedule and then show up for the playoffs. Your the only one trash talking good teams that your team hasn’t played.
  5. Could happen with region 3over 4, but you’re saying Pearl beats d’Iberville, and I think that would be a competitive game. Since Pearl lost to Gulfport in the early season game, they must have improved through the season. d’Iberville seems to be playing pretty well since getting romped by Ocean Springs. This might be the year that regions 3 and 4 split.

Got any favorites?
  7. That’s the information I was looking for. So, WC or Meridian depending on their game. For my sake, I don’t think either one can beat Ocean Springs. As usual, I wouldn’t expect much out of anybody traveling north to play Brandon or OG in the first round, but d’Iberville might have enough to beat Pearl, who lost early on to Gulfport.
  8. Down south, the positions are set, and in region 3, it looks like only the bottom team has yet to be set. Pretty much wondering who is traveling down to play Ocean Springs. Warren Central is there now, but who plays whom to decide that slot? The north is too much of a cluster to figure out. Thoughts? Brandon/Harrison Central Oak Grove/Gulfport d’Iberville/Pearl Ocean Springs/ to be determined
  9. That’s quite possible as they will have to play better, if that’s possible. Or, their talent might actually match up with some of those “good teams”. The offense seems to be just as good as anybody I’ve seen on tape in Oak Grove or Brandon, and if they can play good enough to win a couple of playoff games early, who knows how things shake out with those better teams. I don’t know any more than you do, but I’ve watched them beat everybody they’ve lined up against, including a pretty good Clinton, one loss d’Iberville, and a talented George County. Nobody has slowed down the offense, so I guess we’ll have to wait to see just how good they are, if they can beat G’port and Hcentral to finish the season. Stay tuned!
  10. Ocean Springs continues to do what they have to do to get ready for the playoffs. Averaging 45 a game and improving their defense week by week. Now, it’s Gulfport and Harrison Central to finish, and then kick it into a higher gear against some good teams from region 3. Ain’t nobody bragging or looking ahead, but they’re playing the best football in the state right now. Plus there’s room for improvement with maybe the best junior QB (with the best inspirational story), and a coaching staff that’s ready for the pressure in the playoffs. We all know that there’s some barriers to break down before y’all believe. First #1 team that’s an underdog going into the postseason. Get your popcorn!
  11. Is this the Warrior team that runs ball control, well coached offense without penalties, and a tough defense to compliment that, or the team that fell apart under pressure from Ocean Springs, with multiple penalties, turnovers, and a defense that couldn’t cover or tackle? is this the Gulfport team that lost to a Picayune team that mirrors d’Iberville, or a disciplined defensive team that beat Hcentral with running the ball and tough defense? I’m an Ocean Springs guy, so I’m hoping for the Warriors to knock off a region foe and beat em up the week before we play em. I’ll predict d’Iberville to win a tight, low scoring game, 14-10.
  12. It seems that Ocean Springs has surprised a lot of people, coming from a first round playoff loss last year, and blowing out their opponents as the season moves on. They have been tested a little, coming through against Clinton, George County, and d’Iberville, and awaiting their best region teams at G’port and Hcentral. Heck, I’m surprised, and I knew that they would be pretty good.

He’s a pretty good baseball player, but if he keeps improving, he’ll be close to the best QB in the state by next year. O.S. has three 6’5” wide receivers who give him good targets, and his running is legit, with more speed than anybody on the field. I don’t know if he’s SEC material, but he would be a star at USM.

    Let’s go Brandon!

Just tweaking some of the stuffy guys in here. We just think that we live in heaven down here, so everything else is just okay. I spend a lot of time in those backwoods towns, too. you’ve got a pretty good handle on how this is going to play out in the playoffs this year. O.S. wouldn’t see Brandon or O.G. until the south state finals, which would be hosted by the region 3 rep, making it even more unlikely that O.S. can pull the upset. But, we can dream, huh?

The Meridian that I remember was a state powerhouse who beat us, and sometimes your team like a drum on a regular basis. Having them back to some stage of comeback is a good thing. My guys cannot afford to overlook anybody until they show that they can play their best in the big games. It’s looking more likely that Meridian could be a first round foe, and would be a good test for Ocean Springs. Any team from up in the backwoods would present a real challenge, and O.S. will only win by playing their best game and improving their defense. Looking forward to the challenge. Thankfully, there’s no GCS in your future.

Sorry bout that. You’re welcome to jump on the Greyhound bandwagon if you can stand us. I always thought that Goula put out some great athletes.

Oh, shat, sorry for the confusion. I bet if you’re a Panther, you can’t be happy with your team/coaching right now. I thought that good QBs would carry them this year, but they looked lost when I saw them last week.

Great scouting report starting with the O.S. kicker improving every game. 47 yard field goal and every kickoff into the end zone is much better than the start of the year. Your also right about the physicality of the playoffs and the pine belt teams. O.S. pushed d’Iberville around to my surprise, but that will be hard to do against a Brandon or Pearl. Your Warriors can help us out by beating G’port and Hcentral these next two weeks. I don’t see a lot of offense from either team. Y’all had better get back to bully ball and figure out how to complete a pass. O.S. will score against anybody, so the key for them is turnovers on defense, which is how they beat d’Iberville. I’ve got them favored on the road against G’port and Hcentral both, and hoping that the Warriors can win both games too. See ya in the playoffs.

Your team has the credentials to brag, and if I had your history I wouldn’t take any guff off of anybody, especially the new team on the block. GCS, whatever you think about their little all star team, could beat any team in any classification. That includes Ocean Springs. Adding them to the schedule in the middle of the year showed guts. Still, having said that, they might still be scoring if they hadn’t been so tired and cramped up. Their team was so small they all rode down to Hattiesburg in one car. C’mon, man! It’s a 2A Sunday school team that outmanned the state champs. I’m still going to dog you for losing that game.

“No doubt O.G. is still the team” started off my original comment. I was giving all respect to your team, and I’m not going to start trash talking now. If you’re a little sensitive to somebody obviously kidding about your losing to a little private school, I can’t help you. I gave a little scouting report on the Greyhounds, but never said that they were better than anybody at this point. So according to you, we might as well just be happy winning a few games down here and just end our season at that point cause y’all won in the past. Hell, I’m the one who first mentioned our sorry playoff record. If you don’t mind, we’ll go ahead and play out the season, try to win our region, and if it’s all right with you, we’ll show up for our arse whupping cause we could use the gate money. Thanks for letting us play sir.

Well of course, and I laughed when I did it. I actually do keep up with a lot of teams statewide, watching for recruits, top coaches, and upcoming young players. I watch Ocean Springs and a lot of Coast teams, and the quality is pretty good. I know that winning a ring is what it it’s all about, but playing rivalry games, getting kids scholarships, and bragging a little is okay, even if we don’t always make a lot of noise in the playoffs. Besides, we’ve never lost to a tiny private Christian school with 15 players that I can remember.

No doubt O.G. is still the team until they get knocked off, though they did lose a home game to some little 3A private school from the delta. Ha. Ocean Springs could be in their league if they can get that far into the playoffs. They were tested by what I still consider a good Clinton team in the season opener, but they have improved substantially game over game ever since. That offense has not been stopped by anyone, and might have room to improve even more as their defense has been playing better as well. Two critical games to end the season in Gulfport and Hcentral. I’m certainly not ignoring past playoff history, especially against O.G., so I’m not putting them at #1 until they prove they can run with the big dogs. But, get your popcorn, the Greyhounds sure are fun to watch.
  24. George Cty. has some very good skill position players, should put up some points. The question is, can they stop the power rush game of Picayune? I’m not sure they can, but will go with the upset, which will change the balance of power in the south. G.C. 35 Picayune 31
  25. Gulfport beats Harrison Central 13-12 on a field goal in the last minute. Sets up some really good games in the next few weeks on the Coast, including d’Iberville and Ocean Springs for both of these teams.
