Think there is some scuttlebutt that USM’s QB may be out this week. That might be affecting the line.

Having a Shapen available is crucial. I am as excited as anyone about Taylor but he is still a Freshman. Having both of them these next two games gives us the best opportunity to win one or both games. Albert Reese is crucial for the OL to be better. Smith is a big blow for the defense but hopefully we can overcome that a little better than the guys on the offensive side. I will make my picks later in the week.,

Only 2 games in. Way toooooo early to wonder about Jan’s’ or this team. Iowa State was a very polished team whereas we were 5 individuals playing street ball. Way too much dribbling, no player movement on offense w/out the ball and passing was nonexistent. We will get better and no need to panic at all. Did I say we have only played 2 games? Epps did not play which definitely affected guard play. I think we will be fine going forward.

Regardless of what happens I am very happy for Coach Huff and USM for the season they have had. Unfortunately for USM, with all these open, he may get snatched up by someone even though he has only been there one year.
-
I know this is unthinkable. But if USM runs the table and wins the Sunbelt and the Championship game, could they sneak in the playoff as the G5 representative? They would be 11-2 and would have a resume that could match up with just about anyone else in the G5. I know it is unlikely but….. Discuss…

USM with a heck of a win over Arkansas State intercepting a pass in the end zone on the last play of the game to clinch a 27-21 win.
-
Still under talented. I was wrong with my prediction. Georgia is already good and when you fail to take points, make a crucial penalty and have a costly turnover in the second quarter, you eliminate any chance of winning the game. Plus Georgia was clicking on all cylinders today. Taylor got some valuable playing time today if there are any positives to take away from the day.

Not surprising that State struggled early. First game of the season. Lot of new players and it is going to take a while to gel. UNA is not a bad team and of course you knew they were going to play over their heads against a SEC team. The way State played late bodes well for the future. Offense will get better. Otherwise after just one game, way too early to judge how this team will develop.

1. I like USM to get the win but ASU will be pesky. It will not be easy but Eagles eek out a win: 37-31. 2. Georgia @ State. Tough to decide on this game. Common sense says to take Georgia in a land slide to wallop State. But at the tenth game of the game of the season a team is who they are. I am going to go with the unthinkable. State in an upset 28-27. Georgia has been playing with fire all season and this time they get burned. The breaks they usually get will go against them. I don’t have a fever. Ole Miss wins but the game is not a slaughter. A&M wins. KY beats FL Vandy over Auburn LSU gives Bama a good game just because the road team always plays better in this game but Bama prevails. Closer than expected though. TT by a bunch over BYU. Hopefully they blow them out. I have never had anything for BYU since the Mountain West refs gave them the game back in 2001 at State. Their OL bear hugged our DL/LB’s all night before they finally threw a token flag in the fourth quarter. Worst ever officiated game I have ever seen in person from start to end.

The vogue thing to do these days is to fire the coach mid season. It is an utterly stupid way to run a football program. I did not like it when State did it two years ago. Let the season finish out and then make a decision. And Coaching stability is vitally important to a college football program. Lebby is only two years in and making good progress and yet some of our own stupid fans were clamoring for a change over the last two weeks because we lost two gut wrenching games. I get it that emotions come into play. But only a one fourth brain person could not conclude that State is on the way to success. Seldom does it come instantaneously generally it comes in increments. Let’s look around the conference. Smart and Kiffin have been at their respective jobs for a while now = success. Heupel, Sark have been doing their thing for several years = success. Auburn, Florida, LSU changing coaches frequently is causing instability and their success is diminishing or has already diminished. A&M & Bama have relatively new coaches but they both came into good situations and are continuing to have success. Lea at Vandy is in his fifth season = success. Stoops at KY has struggled some last year and this year but they came up with a big road win last night. KY has done the right thing by riding with him through the low points. Arkansas-they have just not done a good job of hiring the right HC. Beamer at SC has had mixed success but I think they will do the smart thing and keep him. Just an observation from me. Frequently changing HC generally leads to diminished results over a period of time.
-
Which means we need stability at State. Lebby has a good thing going and we need to ride this wave for a while longer. Georgia good but they are not invincible either. They have been vulnerable all year. We just need to find a way win it next week.

You are a good Catholic family. And I say that in all seriousness as I am Catholic.
-
Arkansas totally destructed with all those penalties. And they were all legitimate. They pulled a State and let us back in the game. Finally getting to enjoy a victory drink. It has been about six weeks.
-
Wow a win win I sure hope Green is okay

USCe-Ole Miss. OM plays a bit like they did against Wazzou. SC will threaten an upset but Ole Miss wins an ugly game 35-28. State-Arkansas. Toilet Bowl. One team is 2-6 and the other is 4-4. Four win team should break through but it is on the road. To win State needs to run the ball effectively, NOT commit stupid penalties and win the fourth quarter. Can we do it? I sure hope so. Here is going out on a limb. State 41, Arkansas 34. Vandy@Texas. Vandy wins on the road and confounds the pundits. Vandy 34, Texas 27. Georgia>Florida though it will be a closer game than most expect. Not a lot of points to be scored however. GA 20, FL 13 Tennessee crushes Okie. TN 40, Oklahoma 24 (Sooners score late to make it look better). Upset special. Kentucky pulls the unthinkable and finishes off Hugh Freeze with an ugly win. KY 17, Auburn 16 (Auburn has an extra point blocked).

Absolutely true. The Internet never lies. Does it? Though barring injury our starting QB should be set for the next several years with Kamario Taylor. So I would tend to think that is some idiot trying to stir up something out of nothing.
-
Lebby is in good shape. Emotions just need to settle down some. This mentality of discarding coaches after a single loss or even a win is just mind boggling. And we might see coaches staying put rather than jumping from the frying pan into the fire. If I have a good gig, why I am I going to leave that for FL or LSU where I going to be set up for failure.
-
Firing Kelly is ridiculous. $54 million would fund NIL for two-three years. And I will say it again. The days of guaranteed long term Coaching deals are over. Why tie up all that money when the guy is going to get fired after 2-3 years. Stupid is as stupid does.
-
And even Georgia has the makings of a competitive game. They are strong as always but they have had their share of close games this year. Hopefully our guys will keep plugging away (and I believe they will) and snag a couple of wins before the season ends.

I know the folks that get overly emotional are jumping off a cliff right now. These three losses have been excruciating but people still need to realize we were under talented against those teams. And we still have not learned how to finish out a win. Arkansas & State are probably about equal talent wise. Obviously they will be favored with the game being there. We were actually listening to Neil & Matt at the end on the radio. And Matt talked about how difficult it is for a team to push through to a win. I do agree with 83 that a win over Arkansas will help calm folks down some. Being a State fan for over 60 years, I have experienced a number of these games…1975 Bama (had a first goal at the one yard line up 10-7 in the fourth quarter and failed to score), 1981 Bama game, 1983 Egg Bowl, 1984 Bama (WR fails to catch a game winning TD pass and we lose 24-20), 1997 Egg Bowl and on.
-
I don’t see Kiffin leaving Ole Miss. He has a good thing going. Not exactly the same but there would be some parallels to Mullen leaving State in 2017 when he was about to have his best team in 2018. He has got a lot of momentum there. Why leave that to walk into a cesspool in GNV or BTR? Going forward I think coaching contracts are going to be for shorter durations. I just don’t see schools tying up so much money long term with the coaching turnover that we are seeing in the present day.
-
Game last four quarters. Two costly penalties by the defense. 1. Gave them a TD instead of a FG 2. Late hit on the QB on a fourth down play. Totally turned the game there. Otherwise it would have been over at that point. Did a lot things well but we have to learn how to finish out a game and not give the other team more opportunities.
-
Solid first half for Ole Miss but they have to play four quarters.
-
Ole Miss @ Oklahoma. I think Ole Miss is going to find a way this Saturday. OK is good but not Jawja good. Ole Miss 31-28. TX@State. I just don’t know. Somewhere along the way we are going to win a conference game but I just don’t think it will today. Similar to 83. We give a great effort but fall a bit short. TX 24, State 20. A&M @ LSU. Red Stick has generally been a nightmare for A&M. And it could be again this year. It is going to be ugly but I will take A&M 14-10. Mizzou-Vandy. Gonna keep riding with the Dores. Vandy 24, Show-Me State 17. Bama-SC. Now I am not suffering from a fever. Upset special of the day. SC 27, Bama 25. After running the table for four weeks in a row, Bama does the unthinkable but yet the perfectly reasonable thing here. Plays flat, overlooking an inferior opponent and pulls a loss out of what you should be an easy win. Today will remind us that Saban is no longer the coach at Bama. Arkansas 30, Auburn 27. I do think Auburn is done for save the Iron Bowl where they will play with their hair on fire. Tennessee (name the score) > KY (2-3 Touchdowns less than TN).

Is Lebby their coach as well?
