There was 1 team that West Point couldn't dictate the game on the ground against and that was Picayune. There were teams that bent but didn't break for the most part, Louisville and Vicksburg are the two I saw in person (didn't go to Starkville), but the only defense that really shut down the run game was Picayune. Remember, West Point's first two scores were long pass plays in the championship game. The 2nd half TD was a ground and pound type of drive but by then the West Point defense was even more tired than the Picayune defense so it couldn't be capitalized on.
I will say this however, the best team I saw this year in person was Louisville. It was early in the season, but they sure had it all together at least on that night. Picayune had better backs obviously, but grading the entire team Louisville was more impressive to me.
