We can also look at this from another angle as well. Does Tupelo have automatic protection from the MHSAA? In other words, they do what they want and the MHSAA allows it.

Believe it or not, some schools don’t have to recruit. Tupelo is one of those schools. Let’s be honest, Tupelo recruits itself. They have all the resources in that area. Numerous kids are going off to play college ball. Great academics!!! Top notch facilities with good coaches and a ton of support from the administration and community. Families move to Tupelo or they send their kids there by using a relative address. My family moved to Tupelo from the Delta because we had better resources and opportunities.

I wonder which teams are in that group? Water Valley usually field a strong team about every 5 years or so. Last year was a good showing.

Don’t think so. I know WJ will finish last of the 3 jones county schools. South jones field was ripped up down to dirt and they were starting to put in gravel the week school let out for the summer. NEJ was down to dirt that week and they had just started to tear up west. SJ opens at home week 1 vs nej. Nej hosts WJ week 2 for its first home game. WJ first home game week 4 I think, maybe week 3, vs SJ.

I think we run back the same handful of topics during the offseason.. especially this one. We’ve seen teams lose a jamboree and win a state title several times. Also… I get a real kick out of fans being quick to point out how their team “pulled starters” whether they lost or the game was close against a lower opponent. Me personally as long as OG doesn’t look like crap for two series I’m content going into Week 1.

How seriously do you take a jamboree compared to a spring game? If your team gets blasted next month will you be concerned, or if your team dominates will you feel good? Of course a lot will depend on who you play in the jamboree.

It needed it .The old ones just wanted to make sure all the facilities were locked up and rush home to buttermilk with corn bread . As the season got closer Marcus and them boys would be up there late . Since Pound got hired there has been a lot raised by the revived booster club. It will probably be a charged atmosphere, Pound coming into his fourth game as a HC against a legend like Pearson will be damn near impossible to pull off. I hope it's entertaining at least. Weird stuff usually happens and there will be a couple of times where both sides get pissed off
