Wasnt it you last yr who was quoted as saying WJ offense was going to be dangerous in 2026 if the RB portal comes thru and if another WR is gets to enroll?
-
A bona fide move for athletic purposes they are supposed to be enrolled before the first day of school. Waiting to see what's done on the guardianship front with the updated handbook and law changes.
-
When the 2026 season is done no matter what happens Hattiesburg is going to catch some MAJOR HEAT. If they happen to win the 6a state title, everyone is going to say they recruited their way to a championship. If they get to the title game and lose or dont even make it to the title game this page will blow up. LOL
-
I guess Hattiesburg believed in their talent level so much they decided to go the Tupelo route of recruiting. And bragging about it.
-
Hattiesburg now has recruited a sophmore rb from fcahs. Easnt there a rule about them having to be enrolled and practicing by a certain date?
- Today

That is strange. Seems like the big 3 all started consistently playing each other around the same time.
-
They didnt start playing each other consistently until the year 2000 when Petal became 5a which at the time was the largest classification. For some reason back in the 70s 80s and 90s there was just no interest from both sides not to play football despite the fact they played each other every year in basketball and baseball.
-
It’s interesting to see that they’ve only played 25 times
-
You are definitely right. I am invested in the Little Brown Jug game. Been attending it for 50 of my 56 yrs on this earth. And yes the regular season right now is not what it used to be witb 7 classes and 2-8 teams making the playoffs. But I would rather have that than have 105yrs of tradition just thrown away.

We get it by now. You are heavily invested in that jug.Maybe you could offer a suggestion on a solution or maybe you have some knowledge on why the regular season was neutered. There are other threads we can go back-and-forth in and believe me there’s some stuff in them that I could dig into. I want to keep this discussion about the failure now that we all have. Let’s save the trip back to win cheerleaders skirts, went past their ankles for another discussion.. thanks -
Ok so that’s the outlier LOL
-
5A south would invite you to take a look. Particularly Laurel.

I mean it could be possible, but you would need a lot of things to transpire before you even get there. If Picayune makes it far enough to play either Hattiesburg or West Jones in the playoffs, that would tell you that Picayune has talent. Even if Picayune were to face off against either one as an underdog, I certainly don’t think anyone would be writing anyone off at that point. Anybody can beat anybody when you get that deep in the playoffs because you don’t make it to that point by accident.
-
I believe hes talking overall talent
-
Vott this has nothing to do with Petal at Hattiesburg. If you want to address his comment, he’s mentioning WR corps. You know that’s like pissing in the wind at Picayune. If we ever get a guy to have double digit receptions in a game, that record would take decades to break. We would all be witnesses to history being made if that ever happened.
-
Chances are good one of us will see them
-
I’ll concern myself with picayune at playoff time.
-
WJ got more talent than Picayune?
-
You won’t be. May not even have the best wr corp in 6A south.
-
Gotta have one non region game. No way you discontinue the Little Brown Jug game between Hattiesburg/Laurel. Thats like losing $80,000 if its wasnt played. Its the biggest gate game of the season for the home team.

We all use to play the last 4-5 regular season games fighting for a region championship or seeding. It would be WC, Picayune, Laurel, WJ and Hattiesburg those were the days lol -

Well it got watered down by default because you had more district games and fewer non-district games with fewer classifications. Make it mean something again. I think that’s what people want. Also these extremely bad football teams that make the playoffs doesn't help matters either. Making the playoffs needs to be a reward for doing well in district play. -

It wasn’t very long ago we were playing eight team regions and things were much better. Just think back to when WC was 4A and 5A. When you made the playoffs you were in for a dogfight because playoffs lasted longer. Now two rounds of playoff football that’s a joke.
