Out side of being in the same district has this been a continuous game ? Even getting around the Hattiesburg area it's never been a game that has a lot of "buzz" associated with it or one that I had circled to try and go to. Petal seems lifeless and stale to me as a football entity right now. Able to get past teams in the playoffs that have no shot then getting sent home when they play a contender. Marcus likes to use these first games to try to get his sorry Petal defenses in order and as long as the other team doesn't score , will let them joust before scoring enough at the end to try and win. He's always sitting on plays tp score with quick though if they need them to keep up. I wouldn't put much stock in that spring game and I suspect Lacey has already mapped out what units he wants his team to go through . It will probably be sloppy in the beginning like most first games but I wouldn't be shocked if Hattiesburg got stronger as the game wore on and pulls away at the end . Maybe off of turnovers.

No. East Marion would face Heidelberg or Mize in round 3, but still have home field advantage in that scenario

If equally seeded teams meet and it can not be determined as to ho m e and away then Higher Region Host. That would be Wesson and East Marion in Round 3 correct as 1 seeds.

I haven’t heard of anything but I haven’t been up there as much as I was since my wife’s been sick. I had heard they were wanting to try to bring the tailgating back but that’s hearsay that doesn’t go far in Wayne County lol.

Gotcha. I agree that it would be a huge mistake. I doubt Lampley will make that change. Probably one of the most recognizable logos in the state. I know it has Auburn ties but WC also makes it look really good. I will say the new turf doesn’t look as good without the checkered end zones but i guess it’s time for a change. When I’m in town visiting family it still doesn’t seem right having the home side on the old 84 side of the field. Are there any other projects with the stadium you know of?

With a little over a month away from the opening week, I have no issue of starting a game thread this early. Thoughts on this one. Petal has got some playmakers returning as does Hattiesburg. But the OL for Hattiesburg is going to have to mature and develop quickly as no starter from the OL returns this season. Last yr game was ugly as HHS welcomed a brand new coaching staff and had new players playing as well as a key injury. Hopefully this years outcome is different.

you can never have too many pitchers. Just ask the Atlanta Braves. They had 7 start on the DL this season

I agree. Either way they would have to get by the winner of region 6 in round 3, whether it’s Heidelberg or Mize. And regardless of who that is, that’s not gonna happen. It’s possible that Lake wouldn’t even make the playoffs if they were in region 6. Their entire region was swept in the first round last season.

Lake will finish #2 in their region, but the only way they would make it to South state would mean they have to beat Mize or Heidelberg in round 3. And that ain’t happening, not even close. Heck we were beating Lake at halftime 42-0 in the first round last season. Lake may wouldn’t even make the playoffs if they were in region 6.

Ole miss basically loses all pitchers not named hooks and elliott and must totally restock. Oconner and state have too many arms and will have decisions to be made in december as to who to keep and who to wave goodbye to.
