    Playing on the road

If you think Applebees was high, on a road trip to Forest Hill one year I stopped at Berrys seafood for the buffet. Had no clue I was gonna have to finance a meal. $45.00!
  3. Might be a 4 man committee then................
  4. Today
  5. Applebee's and those fancy restaurants will cost you 30 bucks a pop per person in Rankin County now. Gas station chicken it is for a road trip for many.
  6. Schedules have been released on Capital Sports Ms. MS Palmer coach is listed as XXXX.
  7. I don’t like long road games

    Playing on the road

I must be. You may find it hard to believe, but back when they were in our region, I used to look forward to that Natchez trip every other year. I got an extended weekend taking the day off from work. Found a nice place to eat not too far from the Mississippi River. All but once (maybe twice but not sure) got out of there with a win. Then on that ride home I had the high school football scoreboard show keeping me company. So all the way around I didnt mind a 2.5 hr road trip.
  9. I liked that trip to Brandon a couple of years ago. Took the day off. Went to Bass Pro and ate at Cock of the Walk on the Res and still had time to kill LOL. Tib was there too so it's definitely a good memory.
  10. People like you are a dying breed I believe, my friend. I am indifferent personally. If we can get prepared for region play/playoffs and not have to go far to do it, then I am all for it. If we need to take a trip or two to test ourselves, then we need to.
  11. I just got a glance at the Master Schedule for all MHSAA teams. I noticed that ST. Martin longest trip is only 35 miles playing at Hancock. Does anyone besides me like a relatively long trip or two (at least 90 miles) where you can leave work early and maybe eat somewhere that that is not in your city or town. Or do you like road games where you feel like you are at home?
  12. Maybe they have it just hasn't been posted anywhere.

  14. Region 8 could be a really competitive region next season. East Marion is going to be really really good, and both collins and north Forrest have a good group coming back. East Marion also added a transfer from west Marion, though I don’t know anything about the player. This region will be matched up with region 6 in round 1. That could be some really good matchups
  15. https://www.wdam.com/2026/08/02/pine-belt-blitz-north-forrest-high-school/ north Forrest is feeling optimistic about next season
  16. Unfortunately we have left the times of “where is the right in any of that” and entered the time of. “If it is profitable for us/me then it must be right regardless of its impact on others”.
  17. Last week
  18. Surely they make a hire Monday since school is back in session. gosh
  19. You hope the assistants have taken up the slack. Maybe use the OC's offensive plays and sprinkle in a few new ones along the way.
  20. If he does help it is strictly behind the scenes. He seems to be all in as AD and I believe will be a great one.
  21. So is Kat going to help coach football as an assistant to Pound, or is he strictly going to be AD? I feel like he’s going to want to be a help to the boys on the sideline.
  22. Kat so much m more polished and comfortable speaking to the public now. He can go as high as he wants as an administrator. Matter of fact he better. I’m going to stay on him about. He’s a home grown asset for Wayne County.
  23. I get what you are saying man and maybe the thread kind of veer away from the thread title but i think it went in the right direction. If the post season in our state were a half trashy wedding, Tupelo would have been the chubby ring bearer with a flat top mullet haircut from noxapeter. Then after people who would know, said they were recruiting they suddenly get a new position in the hierarchy. It has already resulted in one recent title and almost got another. They got scolded by I really don’t know who up there in Clinton but judging by the team of junior college size players from last year, they are laughing at your reprimand. Gulfport was being mentioned along with Hattiesburg but judging by some people in the Pine belt, Hattiesburg seems to be more brazen. There was some confusion maybe on purpose about what’s allowed or not allowed by the fine people that make those calls. That’s where the threads at. Here is the truth of the matter . There are some of the states especially the bigger schools that are starting to skirt the rules. These schools are contenders. It’s wrong. It’s not fair to the teams kids that they play. It creates an advantage that other teams cannot exploit. Where is the right in any of that ? In my gut, I don’t think there is a governing body in place that is capable of handling this problem.
  24. There is no way a head coach can go into any school 4 weeks before the season and have any success. Just go ahead and play the season with the coaches they have now. You really have to feel bad for the players at this point
  25. thanks, i hope they find a poor soul to take it
  26. MS Palmer is the last opening left.
  27. Tupelo is eyeing next years portal haul potentials already. They are interested in several current juniors from roughly a 30-40 mile radius of the Tupelo district.
  28. Guys why do yall keep taking the bait? These Hattiesburg people turn every thread into Hattiesburg (aka runner-up) thread. This is Tupelo recruiting and we’re discussing Hattiesburg’s likelihood to be runner up again.
  29. It isnt that they are the cool school to play at now. Who is to say that some of the ones who moved in didnt check out Oak Grove or Petal before coming to Hattiesburg. Oak Grove is pretty much loaded every year and after looking things over he realized he may not be too high on the depth chart. Where as for HHS they only had one legitimate WR returning and he realized he could play right away.
