I wasn't buying gas for the car, but I recall my father telling me I'd never see gas that cheap again - that was when the OPEC nations embargoed the US for our support of Israel in the Yom Kippur War. Later, when I was in HS I drove a '69 Galaxie 500 with a 390 in it, but gas was still about .55 cents so five dollars worth was enough for the weekend. Looks like I'll keep the hybrid on the road for a while and keep the gas guzzlers parked. Hitting $5 per gallon is pretty possible in MS. Every home can't afford the switch to electric so it's a non-issue and as far as Mississippi's tax of $75; Mississippi is the nation's most backwards state.
