MSTSatchmo
He’s leaving some serious JUCO talent coming in at Auburn too.
pancho
He's simply getting out of the building while it's smoking. By about game 6 or 7 next year the building will be fully engulfed so I assume he doesn't want to be interim HC at that point.

That being said, Auburn football is falling apart. Mason may be seeing the writing on the wall.

Look at the trends, the SEC has dramatically moved toward these high-octane spread attacks, a far cry from the pro-style, west coast offense that Harsin had on the field. Heck, they fired Malzahn for going 6-4 in a COVID-shortened season likely equivalent to an 8-4 regular season, yet Harsin barely got to 6-7 in his first year. The first losing season Auburn had since 2012, when they cut Chizik loose after Malzahn went to Ark State. Auburn is likely on a downfall here, and Harsin hopefully gets out scot free. But writing is on the wall that it'll be a rough few for War Eagle.

Absolutely not; at least in my opinion and I suspect the historical tale of the two programs confirms that the DC position with regard to AU is considered an upper echelon slot across the landscape of college football when compared with OSU.
