Picayune vs Vancleve ...What yall think?

Vancleave has played good football against a tough schedule, and might be in over their heads in this district. Bilbo will run the ball ninety plays in a row, and might get another two hundred yards for the Bulldogs, but I doubt that Picayune punts this game.

i have not seen Vancleave this season so it's hard to say. if they have a big strong o-line they might be able to do that. to beat us they will probably have to.

it's how D'Iberville beat us. We are a little undersized but we are fast and aggressive and tackle well. our  lb and secondary cover better than years past.

i would like to see #2 featured on defense. he is a load and a major disrupter in the backfield from what i saw in the one game they used him. Also, our o-line and backs are not opening the holes he needs for his skillset and running style. he is a much bigger asset on D.  We have other shiftier guys who can carry the ball given our limitations on the o-line. I actually think moving 2 to defense makes us a contender if these young guys keep learning and improving like they have. they are impressive for a young group.

Can I ask you a question about d’Iberville since y’all played them, and my Greyhounds have em this week? Are their running backs big guys up the middle with a fullback and two tight ends, or do they mix in speed guys going outside? I know that they don’t pass, so can a defense play everybody up and hope to cover the surprise pass plays?

yes they were mainly power up the gut against us. but that may have been dictated by what they saw in our defensive front. earlier games showed you could pound up the middle on us. i am sure they saw that on film. of course it does not mean they will play the same versus the hounds.

i am not sure how much they used 2 tes. you can probably overload the line with the run your main focus and still cover their receivers in man if you dont just go all out and give them free reign. you can hang with their receivers.

Good scouting report! Thanks, and good luck.

Tib I was thinking the same thing. If you look at last game we only scored 14 points in the first half against a terrible PRC team. If we come Friday night and use that scheme on offense I think we will loose. I know they might not of wanted to show anything against PRC. I was impressed and liked what I saw when they mixed it up on offence with different backs against Poplarville the first game. RTR

Picayune will impose their will physically on offense against Vancleave in my opinion.   I'd like to see a close, competitive game but the Bulldogs seem to be a one trick pony.  Maybe they will have a few new wrinkles and take a little burden off Bilbo.   Keep him healthy cause there's a lot of football left to play.

hats off to bilbo. great back.

He’s so durned good, but I bet he ran the ball fifty times as usual? I hope he can take the wear and tear. Word is his Mom is already calling out the coaches for abusing his workload.

Bilbo is great , However Fant obviously would rather ride his God Given talents in the dirt . Then put work in developing other players around him . Sad for Vancleave I thought Fant would be the young mind needed to get them moving in the right direction. Not the case at all , Vancleave needs to clean the complacent slate and hire a hardworking , excited coach not riding the attributes of his past . Not all great players make great coaches !!

He is averaging 40 carries a game and had 61 against Moss Point. That's borderline abuse

Well I guess I'm going to ruffle a few feathers. So you thought we would lose by using the same offensive scheme we have had for the the last 25 years? Really? Is that the same scheme that ran off 5 straight 1 play scoring drives? Is that the same scheme that has us at 5-1 when maroontide06 (who by the way has disappeared) talked about us botching the head coach hire and possibly having a losing season this year? I just don't understand what people like you are looking for. Maybe you would be happy if we went to the spread and threw the ball 30 times a game and only won 4 or 5 games a year. I don't know but could you please explain it to me?

You ain't gonna ruffle my feathers bro. I was talking about the first half of the PRC game something wasn't working whether it was blocking or something else and it seems they corrected it after what we saw last Friday night. I know we are young and a little on the small size but I have been watching these boys since pee wee and know what we are capable of doing. I call it like I see it and won't sugar coat anything I expect nothing but the best for my team and been a dire hard Tide fan and ex player since before Dodd came back in the 90's. Btw I know our scheme on offense and wouldn't want it to be different. I see something I don't like about what we are doing I will speak my mind.

you are not ruffling any feathers. you are misunderstanding what i said and hightide seconded. we are for this team and for this coach. neither of us wants the spread. picayune has a system, we develop it and it works.  go back and read our posts. we feel this team was underachieving on offense until vancleave by not spreading the ball around TO ALL THE RBS. we werent talking about throwing it all over. those 5 tds were a perfect example of what we wanted to see happen. share the carries and use that guy on defense as well. they did it vs the bulldogs i am pleased w it. we can have an opinion right? nobody calling out coaches or for a spread offense. roll tide!

yes the people over here are 100% behind our kids, but the coaching staff is not doing a good job, yes we run the kid to death, we are a one man team, his mom is upset but Fant want change his ego.......time for a change the program is going downward fast, players are quitting and next season will be worst than this year....
