Football In MS
5 hours ago, TheRadioGuy said: Week 8 Recap from Varsity Voices ON THIS EPISODE Game of the Week — Petal 35, Brandon 34 in a windy, band-stopping thriller Oxford 27, Germantown 24 — the Chargers win in the trenches with the division on the line Upset Friday — Neshoba Central, Houston and Laurel hand Canton, Itawamba and Natchez their first losses Team of the Week — Richland 43, Mendenhall 35, the Rangers' first-ever win over the Tigers Player of the Week — Jordan Wally, D'Iberville: 464 total yards, 5 offensive TDs and a 95-yard pick six St. Martin sophomore Dawson Sullivan piles up 587 total yards and 6 TDs in a loss to D'Iberville Oak Grove escapes Meridian 21-20, and Senatobia holds Rosa Fort to 8 points Pass Christian's Paris Trevillion throws for 319 yards and 4 TDs in a 52-8 win over Moss Point 2A — Wesson blanks Amite County 9-0 I never understood why EVERY SINGLE ONE of y’all picked against Petal at home at last week. And it didn’t make sense to me why OG seemed to be the huge upset opportunity at their own hoco. Even when the older Hill boy was Meridian’s offense a couple of years ago, OG beat Meridian at Meridian. And the last time Meridian beat OG was a decade ago. So all the chatter on this one seemed more like OG hate than anything else. And for whatever reason they seemed to get a lot of hate surrounding this game. (IMHO, Vance is a big part of that leftover from his HHS days…) Both games had missed calls and both games had coaches who were HOT about it. But in the end the teams who lost just didn’t do what they needed to get the job done when it all came down. You can’t fault refs for missed kicks. And in the end, that was your ballgame in both places (notwithstanding the OG touchdown with a minute left that was not called as a touchdown).
