slicklizard
The Hattiesburg thread made me revisit questions I’ve had about the state testing for awhile now. I don’t want to derail that one. So I posed them here. Disclaimer I know nothing of maneuvering through public funding. What’s the downside to it and why do local boards go witch doctor crazy at the very whisper of it ? I read a little of the current guidelines and only saw that a certain point schools would come under a separate district at the state level. If it didn’t affect funding I can’t believe that some districts haven’t said go for it . Let’s see how you do enforcing your own guidelines. What happens if the schools in this separate “ district jail “ still don’t perform ? I’m editing this to clarify being taken over for a failing grade for testing . Are there other parameters that could make them fail besides that Edited December 30, 2024 by slicklizard
Rebel Bert
Some of it was desecration from the 60s. Leake County comes to mind. The Judge agreed to a forced plan that closed two small schools. Noxubee County comes to mind, finances, lower numbers of students. Some counties have avoided it by consolidation ahead of time. I will say failed leadership(Scott County) a few years back, finances, lack of funding, etc.
