So WC makes the trip to Laurel Friday night it what should be billed as the battle of two lame duck coaches. This will be a penalty feast I promise you. I’m not sure which crew they have assigned to this game but it better be one that can keep things in control. You have two teams that are frustrated with a rich tradition in the past ( not so much lately). Don’t be surprised if you don’t see trouble on the field and in the stands if anyone goes. I can remember standing in line waiting for gates to open at five for WC games at home and on the road. Hell now you can get there at seven and sit wherever you like.

Same old song and dance just a different year. Someone made the comment earlier in this thread that WC definitely should beat EC, Stone and Van because WC just had more athleticism. Well the defeated EC lost to Stone at home they had every chance in the end but the play calling was atrocious. WC has plenty of athletes now I don’t mean athletes like they had in the early 2000s. But in this watered down 5A which is an absolute joke they could and should be at the top. Time For Change at WC!!!!

You will never see a documentary or read anything truthful about it in the local newspaper. The reason being they don’t won’t the money players behind this exposed. It’s your typical names behind everything crooked in Wayne County. People say well there’s nothing to do to keep our kids out of trouble. Ask yourselves why and look at the corruption here. Oh it’s the same names as when I came up just a different generation. The school system is a joke we have good teachers but they aren’t allowed to teach they are expected to get the kids prepared to take the state test. Well that went over really well this year. Out of the six schools in the district one maintained the same average as last year but dropped a few points. All the others dropped one from an A to a D and 160 points. Yet we give the Superintendent a contract extension. I’m sorry the law needs to be changed back to elect the superintendent because you get a school board like our they will not fire a superintendent.

My best guess is he’s talking about Corey Reynolds the HC at WJ and former QB at WC in the 90’s. His mom is the current School board president in Wayne County. As to all the former Marcus Boyles assistants around the state that have put in for the job before and were turned down it never got to the school board. Unless there’s a change at the high school they will not hire anyone associated with Coach Boyles which is absolutely ridiculous.

Well I can’t speak in facts to all that you have brought up. I do know the state had to step in under the previous administration it was a mess with a fall guy so to speak. Then a lawsuit with Clarke County something to do with Oil money. My son played on the back to back Championship teams it was a different program then. I’ve been watching them since the McCain days a I don’t speak only on the Championship days. But once you get to the top your program does everything it can to stay there. WC hasn’t done everything that it could to stay there. When Mangum left Daryl Carter the coach at Heldiburg was told that he was going to be hired. So he comes down to the board meeting only to hear we’re not making a hire today instead we’re going into a closed door meeting. Then they hire Shelton Gandy a man from Waynesboro he played at old Waynesboro Central and USM. He had an extensive background in coaching at all levels as assistant at high school, JUCO, College and some pro. The problem was job history he had not been on a job long so he was here two seasons. Enter a Interm head coach in Kevin Gandy he played at WC coached his entire career under Boyles and Mangum at WC. His interm year was the Covid year WC had to forfeit a couple of region games which kept them from the playoffs so he wasn’t given a fair shake.Sometimes in this time lineTodd Breland was interviewed for the job. Also Evans who was at the time at Taylorsville was interviewed. But none were hired.Well we definitely are in a free fall.

There are five middle schools in Wayne County. Mangum and Boyles made it work they had coaches from the middle schools on staff but the previous Superintendent stopped that.

Thank you I have been lurking around reading and keeping my thoughts to myself. But after Friday night I had seen enough. The Stands are almost empty and getting emptier at WC. One of the nicest stadiums in the state if we would have had it from 2000 until 2012 or so it would still be standing room only. What’s the answer idk to be honest I know the first step.

So did they last season but…….

They have WJ, George County and DeIberville the next three weeks. They could go into region so down that it won’t matter who they play.
