  1. Kirby Smart at UGA is said to be known for running tight-lipped camps as well so doing so isn't necessarily a bad thing. There's no film on Miss St. yet and with the initial 4 games of the season being so crucial to finding 6 wins this year, I can understand any desire Lebby might have to maintain and leverage as much of an early season advantage as possible by keeping information in house.
  2. I'm sure many are wondering as well but coach Lebby stated that the matter was internal and didn't comment further. Anything other than an official statement from either a representative of the program or the player himself would likely constitute pure speculation. Depth at RB may well be Miss State's greatest weakness this season.
  3. A little discussed side story to the start of the college football season is that the head coach of A&M will be coaching against his old QB from Duke when A&M host ND after Mike Elko left Duke for the A&M job and Riley Leonard bolted Durham to be the QB1 in Notre Dame Indiana.
  4. Formerly MSUBulldog here. One nuance regarding the transfer of Blake Shapen from Baylor to Miss St. that hasn't been widely discussed is the chain reaction which ensued in the transfer portal of Toledo's QB1 in Dequan Finn who transferred to Baylor to replace Shapen. Toledo who Miss St. plays game-3 of the season is with a far less experienced QB1 now in Tucker Gleason who is backed up at Toledo by 4 freshman and a sophomore QB. This places MSU with a decisive QB1 advantage over the course of their initial three contest leading up to the SEC home opener vs Florida in Starkville, MS.
  5. Formerly MSUBulldog and I enjoy substantive in depth and knowledgeable discussions primarily revolving the game of college football. I'm a graduate of Miss St. University, have my master's degree and enjoy Starkville, MS culture and in-depth reporting.
