The Enterprise Bulldogs raced out to a 20-0 over the Morton Panthers and then had to hang on as Morton scored 14 unanswered points as EHS won 20-14 over the homestanding Panthers. Sophomore tailback Zee Sims was once again the hero for Enterprise running for 143 yards on 11 carries and scoring two TDs on runs of 72 and 50 yards. The Bulldogs kicked off to the Panthers to start the game and EHS held MHS to a three-and-out and forced a Morton punt. EHS took over at its 33 and drove to the MHS 32 before turning the football over on downs. EHS held Morton to another three and out and got the ball back on its 28 yard line. Two plays later facing a third and seven the Bulldogs handed the ball to their sophomore sensation Zee Sims and the speedy tailback raced 72 yards to give EHS its first points of the night. Trace Roy kicked the PAT to give EHS a 7-0 lead with five minutes left in the first quarter. The rest of the first half the two teams traded punts with Morton punting four times and EHS punting twice. Enterprise forced Morton's sixth punt of the first half and got possession at its 34 with only 1:59 left in the first half. The Bulldogs drove down the field as the half wound down with Bulldog QB Derryon Gray scoring on a 15 yard run with only 20 seconds left in the first half. Trace Roy added the extra point to give EHS a 14-0 lead. The Bulldogs kicked off to the Panthers and Morton quickly drove down the field, reaching the EHS 15 yard line. Morton called time out with mere seconds left in the half and attempted a Field Goal. Morton kicker George Ibara's kick went wide left denying the panthers any momentum going into halftime and sending Enterprise into the locker room with a 14-0 lead. The MHS Panthers kicked of to the Bulldogs to start the second half. Enterprise could not move on offense and was forced to punt to the panthers. EHS then forced Morton's seventh punt of the night and took over possession at its 38 yard line. Three plays later Sims struck again bolting loose for a 50 yard scoring scamper to put EHS up 20-0 with eight minutes left in the 3rd quarter. A bad snap prevented Trace Roy from sending the ball through the uprights. The Bulldogs kicked off to the Panthers and Morton finally mounted a scoring drive, scoring a TD on a four yard run to make the score 20-6 with two minutes left in the third period. Morton missed the PAT. MHS kicked off to EHS but the Bulldogs once again were forced to punt. The Panthers then drove into Bulldog territory before Gray intercepted Morton QB Gerald Madden at the EHS 32 yard line. The Panthers forced the Bulldogs to punt and then drove to the EHS Five yard line before Gray recovered a Morton fumble. The good news was that EHS had avoided a potential Morton TD, the bad news was Enterprise had the ball at its own five yard line. Three straight rushing attempts up the middle of the Morton defense netted nothing and EHS facing a fourth and ten at its own five was forced to punt out of its own endzone. The Morton punt returner returned the punt to the EHS 22 and MHS scored in four plays and then ran in the two point conversion with only 53 seconds left in the contest to make the score 20-14. Next came the onside kick everyone knew was coming. Now everyone knows that in order for a team to successfully recover an onside kick the ball must travel at least ten yards. On Morton's first attempted onside kick Enterprise recovered the ball but Morton was penalized and forced to kick again. Enterprise again recovered Morton's second onside kick attempt and Bulldog QB Derryon Gray kneeled twice to run out the clock and give EHS its first Region 5 3A win as well as keep Enterprise undefeated at 6-0. Enterprise rushed for 281 yards and passed for 46 and had 327 total yards. Zee Sims led EHS with 143 yards on 11 carries and two TDs. Gavyn Dear had 44 yards on 11 carries, Trace Roy had 41 yards on seven carries, Parks Burt had 34 yards on eight carries and Derryon Gray had 19 yards on eight carries and one TD. Gray was 2-7 for 46 yards, Blake Wilkins caught one pass for 32 yards and Dear caught one for 14 yards. On defense Roy led EHS with 10 tackles, Gray had 8 tackles, and also had one INT and recovered a fumble. Parks Burt and Isiah Baum each had seven tackles and Ridge Jackson and Ryland Heathcock each had 5 tackles. Percell Lindsey and Isiah Bam had a joint QB sack. Blake Wilkins punted seven times for a 38.9 yard average. Trace Roy was 2-3 on extra points.

I know our friends and relatives in Q-Town are talking about the butt-whipping they got.

Enterprise begins Region 5-3A play Friday At Morton. Morton has won its last two games after loses to Scott Central and two 6A teams. I hear Morton is big fast and athletic; I saw a Morton fan on here; I would like to hear from him. Personally I think Enterprise beats Morton; I think we are the favorites to win Region 5.

I dont know but Coach Jimmerson did a good job rebuilding the OL seeing as we only had one starter coming back; we moved Percell Lindsey, to Center, he played DT primarily last year; he is very strong about 5'10 315 pounds; and we had Seth Jackson our only returning OL he made 1st Team All-State last year, he is about 6'1 275; and the player who has also emerged is our Right Tackle Wesley Culbreth, a sophomore about 6'4 285; and our little Guards have done a good job Senior Tristan Singley and Junior Luke Hartman; both of those guys are like 5''7-5'8 175 pounds but they play like giants; Quitman was very big upfront but we whipped them and they never stopped us we stopped ourselves; we never punted the whole game.

Enterprise sophomore tailback Zee Sims rushed for 142 yards on just 10 carries and scored three TDs as Enterprise defeated Quitman for the first time since 1977 as the Bulldogs won 42-19. EHS amassed 454 total yards in the win. Enterprise scored on its first six possessions and never punted; while the defense was equally dominant sacking Quitman QB Jias Davis twice and intercepting two passes. QHS kicked off to EHS to start the game and the Bulldogs wasted little time in scoring, using only four plays and scoring on Zee Sims 38 yard run. Trace Roy added the extra point to give EHS a 7-0 lead just two minutes into the contest. EHS kicked off to the Panthers, and with QHS facing 3rd and long; QHS QB Jias Davis' pass was tipped by Sims and landed in the arms of QHS' Tommy Chambers, who raced to the Bulldog end zone to complete the 71 yard TD pass play. QHS added the PAT to knot the score 7-7 with eight minutes left in the 1st quarter. QHS kicked off EHS and the Bulldogs promptly marched down the field in eight plays, scoring on Sims 1 yard TD and after Roy kicked the PAT it EHS led 14-7 with a minute left in the 1st quarter. EHS held Quitman to a three and out and forced a Panther punt on QHS' next series. As would be the caee the entire night the QHS defense simply could not stop the Bulldog offense as Derryon Gray started the drive with a 34 yard pass to Blake Wilkins to the QHS 30 yard line followed by an 18 yard run by Parks Burt; and Sims ended the drive with his third straight TD, an 11 yard run. Roy added the point after to give EHS a 21-7 lead with eight minutes left in the first half. EHS held Quitman to another three and out and got the football back at its 37 yard line. EHS stormed down the field in six plays with Gavyn Dear scoring on a 12 yard run; Roy's kick made the score 28-7 Enterprise with four minutes left in the 2nd quarter. EHS held Quitman to a third three and out but the Bulldogs were assessed a holding penalty on the punt giving Quitman a first down and QHS took advantage, scoring on Davis' 17 yard run; Quitman missed the PAT leaving the score 28-13 Enterprise with 1:53 left in the 1st half which would be the Halftime score. EHS kicked off to Quitman to start the 2nd half but the Panther drive would be brief as Bulldog Junior strong safety Jake Shelby would pick off Davis, giving EHS possession at the QHS 34 yard line. EHS scored on Dear's second straight TD to take a 35-13 lead three minutes into the third quarter. EHS would force Quitman to punt on its next possession and EHS took over at its own 14 yard line. The Bulldogs marched down the field scoring on Parks Burt's seven yard TD run and Roy's sixth consecutive extra point and EHS led 42-13 with 1:33 left in the 3rd. In the 4th quarter Enterprise got sloppy losing two fumbles; Quitman recovered one of those fumbles at the EHS 33 yard line to score the last points of the Ballgame. EHS stopped the run for two as the final score would be 42-19 Enterprise. EHS fumbled again on its next possession and QHS recovered at the Bulldog 37. Davis completed a pass to the EHS 4 yard line where Bulldog Sophomore Free Safety Jayce Gunn made a touchdown-saving tackle. Two plays later Jake Shelby made his second Interception of the game and returned the pick to the EHS 10 yard line. A penalty on the return put EHS at its on one-yard line, but Trace Roy broke an 18 yard run against the tired QHS defense to get the Bulldogs out of the shadow of their goal posts. EHS drove to the QHS 45 yard line before time expired with EHS taking the 42-19 win, its first win over Quitman since 1977.
