Direct quote from the rule: [[[Any time the score differential reaches thirty-five points or more, the following changes will be made regarding rules determining when the clock will be stopped and/or started. In addition, in keeping with the rules that allow for mutual agreement between coaches for period shortening, the running clock may be implemented at any time by mutual agreement of the coaches. Coaches choice may not supersede the automatic provisions with a 35 point differential 1. Once the running clock provisions are implemented, the clock shall continue to run from the point that the differential occurs (and shall not return to official time) with the following clarifications: ]]] then there are provisions such as player injury, administering fouls, heat time outs, etc. Note that the rule directly from the Director of Officials states “shall not return to official time” - nor does it state a half or anything else.

I sat in on an official’s rules clinic and I can tell you they stressed that it doesn’t change back. When I get back by the office I’ll grab the wording that was given to everyone there and share where it said that. I apologize for not having it on hand, I left my notebook at the office. I can’t say what brought it about, nor can I say I like that. All I can say is it definitely doesn’t change back to normal clock.
-
Not sure where you got that from. The meeting I sat in earlier this week, once it hits 35 it runs regardless of not being 35 anymore and the coaches don’t have a choice. when I get the opportunity, I can run down the rule for you. There are exceptions to when it’ll run ie injury, timeout, etc… but it was definitely stressed that it will run after 35 point differential regardless of what the score changes to
-
Note that once it is a 35 point difference, it doesn’t return to a normal running clock. Even if the losing team makes it 35-28 with 1 minute to go - still a running clock

agree completely - I don't see any logical location that isn't a logistic nightmare for families

I've heard rumblings of a possible Lowndes County consolidation, but I can't see how they'd manage that. Both Caledonia and New Hope are really good sized schools with Caledonia steadily growing. I could see a potential New Hope/West Lowndes consolidation though. Columbus wouldn't be involved in this as they're in a completely separate district. Note - this is just rumblings, not anything solid yet

That was a messed up situation. From what I've seen through various social media platforms, he was terminated at Mendenhall because a couple girls got into a fight after they got off the bus he was driving. Apparently he told them if they're going to fight take it off the bus and they did... I don't know if any of that's accurate, just a summation of what I've read on social media. Jenkins is a good man, good DC - he'll do some good things on the coast.

Wonder if any of these would be different if they had the proper home teams

Had never hosted a playoff game either and have bumped that up to 3 now. excited for the boys, Friday is going to be a slugfest though

Same! loved ScorebookLive before they integrated with dragonfly. Once they started pulling from the dragonfly database their system got jacked up. Oh and heaven forbid if their is a scorer for both teams, it goes haywire

I think it’s more that folks continue sleeping on what Caledonia is capable of doing. That said - Senatobia worries the heck out of me - Louisville really didn’t this year, but I wasn’t going to run my mouth since they are reigning champs. as for Cavaliers, I think a lot of people are happy with it now. Some are still disappointed but overall folks have really bought into it - I think the success of this season has really helped.
-
Will do. Right now we’re playing on having Rion join us for a bit before the game to talk Louisville football with us

I’ll be running a “radio” broadcast stream but it’ll have a heavy Caledonia lean https://share.stationhead.com/QZKWXXxux8k not sure if NFHS is doing video streams yet I’ve got Caledonia … but I don’t know the point spread. Ton of respect for Louisville and what they’re capable of doing. I just see Caledonia from the sideline every game and they’re getting better each week on both sides of the ball
-
And FYI - when playing Caledonia, Aberdeen didn’t move the ball past the first down marker one time before the starting defense was subbed out for the JV unit. Not trying to down Aberdeen, but adding info for perspective. similar with Nettleton,Corinth, and Others as well - they weren’t able to score until JV units got subbed in… made the score in some of them look less lopsided than the game actually was

Most likely coincidence. Calpreps runs a computer based algorithm to make these projections. Pretty sure the page isn’t populated by a person but by that algorithm

Apologies Mooredeer includes my team too

I have a feeling Clarksdale is the team to beat in this part of the bracket.

this is what I felt we saw at the game at Itawamba. I’ve never seen a crew that bad in over a decade of being involved at these games. Itawamba is normally a good place officiating wise. Caledonia didn’t execute very well that game and outcome may have been the same or similar, but man the officiating was rough. No fault of Itawamba at all and as has been mentioned - Hoots and crew are an absolutely outstanding coaching staff!
-
I mean that can be said of any game most of the time
-
Can’t be any worse than the ones we had at Itawamba this year I think come playoffs they get pulled from outside both teams districts to avoid that happening
-
As a Caledonia fan, I hope you’re right. Caledonia boys have busted their butts for years - this senior group and they’re a great group of teammates. that said - Caledonia has never recorded a win at Pontotoc or for that matter against Pontotoc. Either way… it’ll be a really good game to watch
-
so far.. close games but no real upsets In North half that Louisville at Clarksdale game looks to be a heckuva match up. West Lauderdale will find out their opponent tonight. I’ll be at Caledonia at Pontotoc. Caledonia has never beaten Pontotoc. Should be a really good game here too. Itawamba and Ripley - I don’t know enough about Ripley to know how this game might go? Can someone point out the interesting games in south half? That Newton County win looked like it was intense to watch. Field goal as time expires in the first half and that is the only score of the game - wow
