MSU is a good team, another solid win for Ole Miss.

10-2 with a NY6 bowl ahead. Feels good man.

Things could get interesting 83. IF Bama loses and OM wins this weekend, they tie for 1st in the West with Bama going to Atlanta with the H2H tiebreaker. IF Bama and OM wins, it's an outright #1 and #2 in the West. Beyond those happening, it gets crazy quick. IF MSU wins and A&M loses, MSU/OM tie for #2 in the West with MSU holding the tie-breaker. IF MSU wins and A&M wins, A&M/OM/MSU tie for #2 in the West with no clear tiebreaker. Bowl selections would likely come down to highest in the rankings/who brings the biggest crowd... which would probably favor A&M on both. Kentucky is also 2nd in the East no matter what happens with the same conference record as A&M/OM/MSU.

I agree B4. I don't think anyone should say Mullen isn't a good coach, he just isn't a great coach (few are, that's not a knock on Mullen). Averaging 8 wins at MSU (or Ole Miss) keeps a coach employed. Averaging 8 wins per year at Florida isn't acceptable to them. Good point on UT on what they've become, and I'll add Nebraska. I'm not sold Florida is on the road of UT/Nebraska, but it's certainly possible. IF Stricklan doesn't make the right hire, he'll be out the door in a couple of years.

Yep, a lock with a win. With a loss, it would take some help for OM to get a NY6 bowl. I lean OM ends up in the Citrus with a loss. IF Bama wins tomorrow and in Atlanta- they're in the playoffs with UGA and OM almost definitely gets the Sugar then. Then again, if A&M wins with an OM loss... I can see A&M getting the Sugar with Bama in the playoffs. MSU is probably Outback/Gator with a win and Liberty/Music City with a loss.

MSU dropped out of the CFP top 25 this week after blowing out Tennessee State. OM moved up from #12 to #9 after somewhat struggling vs a bad Vandy team. I would have guessed OM #10 and MSU #24. Cincy moved into the top 4 finally.

To be fair, it's not "recruiting season" yet. ~Dan Muffins

I agree. I tend to believe Kiffin's goal is to get the Alabama job when Saban retires. He can ride out a fairly safe and nice paying job at Ole Miss (assuming Ole Miss doesn't try to go cheap and assuming Kiffin keeps winning) until Saban retires and Alabama calls. I also think Alabama is Napier's ultimate goal, but that isn't happening until he proves himself in a P5 conference and Napier doesn't have to take an Ole Miss/MSU type job to try to prove himself... he's safe where he is and can be picky. He's in a great position, as are Lane/Luke.
-
Lane is about to get paid, either by Ole Miss or by someone else. IF those are the actual 3 names at the top of the list for Florida: I lean Napier will end up at LSU. I lean Fickell to Florida. I wouldn't put much, if any, stock in some twitter ran by @begatorstoday. MAYBE that's someone really in the know, but the Lane to Miami rumor was strongly started and "sourced" by a Miami booster that was convicted or running a Ponzi Scheme... not exactly a reliable source. Lane could end up at Miami, but it certainly won't be because that guy actually knew something. I lean OM will put together a nice package for Lane and he sticks around a few more years.

That's where I'm thinking will be the difference in the game. Earlier in the season, OM was hitting the big plays. Injuries to Corral and WRs have sure been a factor on the lack of big plays the past ~5 games... but supposedly all WRs are healthy for this game. Some have been drops, but also Corral has been a tad off on the long throws lately. How much is that Corral being off or Corral playing injured? How healthy will Corral be Thursday? I think MSU will score about 28. IF OM can hit the big plays, they'll score over 28. IF OM doesn't hit the big plays, MSU wins. MSU's D is very good against the short passes with quick closing speed. They just don't give up YAC yards on those short routes. MSU's D is pretty good against the run. I think OM can run for about 140 yards on MSU, but that's about it. Well enough to keep the D honest but not enough to win the game on running. The long passes will win or lose the game for Ole Miss.

Reports now say Florida asked Dan to coach next week and he declined. I think it's dumb for a school to ask a coach to finish the season after being fired. Ole Miss did it with Nutt and it was dumb then also. I don't blame Mullen a bit for turning down coaching the final game.
-
I don't like the timing of it for sure. Lane's name will be mentioned I'm sure, just a distraction that the team doesn't need heading into the egg bowl. Of course, having you coach's name mentioned for other jobs means something is going well... so it is what it is. It's certainly better than being 3-8 and being the laughing stock of the SEC west. Ole Miss and MSU have played that role too many times. And yeah, Mullen isn't going to be hurting for money- that's for sure! $12 million to walk away. Orgeron got $18 million wasn't it? What a world we live in. Will Dan be OC and Ed DC for Bama next year? The Saban coaching rehab program seems like the best in football.

I figure Ole Miss will be favored, I wonder by how much? It will likely be a close game.
-
How much less could you care about the Saints? Sorry, pet peeve of mine. It's right up there with "hot water heater", why would anyone heat hot water?
-
Ugly wins are better than pretty losses every day. Ugly win for Ole Miss, but I'll take it. 9-2 with a likely top 10 ranking headed into the egg bowl, I'll definitely take that.
-
South Carolina beat Auburn 21-17. Tennessee killing South Alabama 56-7 in the 4th quarter.
-
That may be a first time ever.
-
I should have refreshed, beat me to that.
-
Utah 28-0 over Oregon at the half.
-
Mizzou made a gutsy first OT move to go for 2, and got it for the win. Dan's postgame interview should be good. LOL You hate to see it...
-
Florida/Mizzou tied at 16 with 4 minutes left. Normally, I'd root for a crazy OT finish... but since Ole Miss follows this game, let's just get it over with. IF Mizzou wins, is Dan fired before next week's game?
-
Great effort by Arkansas, but Bama wins as expected to win the West again. 42-35 final.
-
Cincy is smoking SMU, oh well. Oklahoma won 28-21, decent game from what little I had a chance to watch. Sparty getting whipped moves Ole Miss into the top 10 IF they beat Vandy tonight. Pitt and UTSA are both tied with their opponents in the third along with BYU and Wisconsin leading but struggling. MSU could get top 20 if all of those lose. No matter what happens, OM and State will both be ranked heading into the egg bowl which is pretty rare.
-
Ha, we could go in many circles on that. If State played LT tomorrow, I'd bet on State. If OM played Auburn tomorrow, I'd bet on Ole Miss. If OM or State played USM tomorrow, I'd bet on OM/MSU. It's been a weird season somewhat, but a fun one.
