The Laurel, MS native (WJH & USM grad) has had several stops from the JUCO ranks as well as Southern Miss, Murray State, Samford, Jacksonville State, and UT-Martin among others! His wife is a Wayne County native!

Bubba Hathorne graduated from West Jones but was head coach football coach/AD at NEJ from 2003-2009.

Jimbo Nowell infamous beat down at Wayne County vs Quitman football game at Wayne County War Eagle Stadium! That was pre-season of 2022 just before football season was to get going! Ole Jimbo FAFO!! Heidelberg promoted Paul Burnett from his staff as interim head coach that year and then Darryl Carter was hired in 2023 to Heidelberg.

Probably will be a Wayne County guy… the question is which one!

Darryl Carter was on the 1994 4A state championship basketball team from NEJ that upset the Indianola Gentry team that had the twin towers that signed with UNLV & USM! Carter was the QB for NEJ in 1995 that lost to McComb 14-13 for the 4A South State Championship on infamous two point conversion call. Carter was also Dandy Dozen selection pre-season of 1995 and signed with Southern Miss.
